Alternative Readings For Mass?

This is something I've been meaning to ask about for awhile now. During Lent I went to the Friday Masses that were for the school children (they have Mass every Friday during the school year, so the regular 8:30am Mass is now the school's 9:15am Mass). I have been bringing my Weekday Missal with me for awhile to follow along with the readings. I noticed that every school Mass they had different readings than what was in the Missal. I know there is a two year cycle for Weekday Masses and certain seasons always have the same readings. Are there alternate readings for Lent or in general? Are they specifically for Masses with Children?

There are times in the Ordinary Form that a difference in readings may occur.
