Ash Wednesday
Meh, I'm watching it but can't help but feel a bit cynical about a wedding where nobody's allowed to be Catholic and they're giving all these lofty speeches about God in a country and society where morals have gone by the wayside and most people could actually really care less about God. I suppose someone needs to talk about God, and the minister probably means well in his Church of England sort of way. Kate looks beautiful, though a bit terrified and unsure of what she's getting into. Good luck to them, they will need it. AccountDeleted
It was a very nice service but it just doesn't seem right somehow without the Mass!!! And whenever he said Father, Son and Holy Ghost I wanted to cross myself! Edited April 29, 2011 by nunsense
Cherie
Her dress!!! Her dress!!! ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Ok, a bit too V-cut for my preference but compared to what most brides wear these days?! Wow, it was absolutely regal. Yeah, definitely not the same without the Mass - that's the best part of a wedding!!! I always wished William or Harry would choose a Catholic bride and then see what would happen - because apparently the laws are still on the books that they can't be Catholic. Hmm! AccountDeleted
My sister was boycotting the media because she said the whole thing was too over the top but I think it was very nicely done for a non-Catholic wedding, and William and Kate seemed genuinely happy about it all. The dress was very sweet and she looked radiant. I think this is a positive thing when you consider all the bad stuff that is going on in the world. I hope they make it last! I sincerely wish them all the best. And I hope they have a household full of beautiful little children! We'll see Granted, it wasn't a Catholic ceremony - but it was traditional, with the priests in robes and very dignified all the way around. (Oh I love the Brits' command of the English language! Thank the Lord we are getting a new translation of the Mass soon!!!) I think it's good for people to see that. Nothing is sacred anymore. Ash Wednesday
Her dress was very pretty. Very elegant, very Princess Grace of Monaco. It was a bit sad to not see Princess Diana there. I think she would have liked Kate and they both have had an elegant sense of style. I didn't think the wedding was that over the top as some have said. Westminster Abbey is just a pretty blinged out church and that's a lot of it. It's not like it went on for 3 hours or something. P.S. I think my previous post was supposed to say "couldn't care less" Edited April 29, 2011 by Ash Wednesday
Archaeology cat
Yes, the Act of Settlement barring Catholics from the succession is still in effect. The Lib Dems had said they'd have it repealed, but the Church of England recently objected, so it's still there.

(Or does it have to be a son? Not sure how that all works nowadays) Wouldn't that cause a sensation and just be pure amesome!!
Era Might
I didn't watch any of it, but I was just looking at some pictures online. I noticed the Queen's hat (although Camilla's hat was even more noticeable). There's something...unbecoming to me about women wearing hats in church. Hats are signs of fashion, not humility. I think veils are more appropriate in a church. Edited April 29, 2011 by Era Might

I don't know, I rather like hats. For women to wear them nowadays is unusual and just seems rather ... dignified, I guess.
