I recognize that bishops and priests aren't infallible. I just know that I'm fallible too, and maybe they know more than I do.

When people come into my house I ask them to take their shoes off. They do so because it is my house. I don't care if the constitution and Catholic Church let people wear shoes indiscriminately. In my house, my rules trump.

Considering that much criticism of Bishops (e.g. Mahoney &c) is tolerated now - rightly or wrongly - then I suspect that the answer is no.

It is to some extent, but I've seen warnings for criticism of Mahoney as well. The point is that we may very well have to deal with the theological opinions of the SSPX being considered acceptable and legitimate for Catholics in the next couple years, and that will have consequences for the forum.

Of course, but this isn't dUSt's house. IF it were, we'd all be staring at the velvet Elvis hanging on the wall.

Oh, and I went back and re-read the phatmass pledge. I've followed the spirit of that.

i've actually been reading a lot about the talks, not just on phatmass but elsewhere. (of course, don't ask me where because i can't remember.) i agree with Al that the SSPX situation being normalized within the next two years (or so) is being really, really, really, optimistic.

I understand that, but when it is provable that they're wrong, and we have been given a mandatum to follow up with it, doesn't the wanton ignorance of what the faithful can provide a stumbling block?

I mean we all share in the priesthood of Christ. Isn't that why we hold our hands in the orans position and act as readers and distribute Holy Communion, and teach CCD and RCIA? That's what we've been told by bishops and priests for the last 40+ years....so it must be right, right?

Laudate_Dominum

If I were a webmaster I'd be pretty creeped out by people saying they have "obedience" to me. What the hell? haha.
