CatherineM
I find freedom in obedience. I agree that there are things above my paygrade. It's not a cop-out. It's a willingness to surrender to the idea that someone else is in charge. In the Church it is the Pope, my archbishop, my pastors. At school, it is the Dean of Theology, the Dean of Students, and my professors. At Phatmass it is Dust.
Vincent Vega
I wonder if criticism of SSPX bishops will become forbidden on Phatmass when (not if, when) the SSPX obtains proper jurisdiction...
Considering that much criticism of Bishops (e.g. Mahoney &c) is tolerated now - rightly or wrongly - then I suspect that the answer is no. Cam42
As do I. I also agree that there are things above my paygrade, but when we are given the mandatum to make things known and are willfullly ignored by pastors and bishops, there is no freedom in that. Those are the chains which bind. Let's remember, priests, bishops and even the Pope are not infallible. They can make mistakes and do daily. The problem is that their lack of true humility doesn't allow for them to correct improper behavior. The Pope can be infallible when he speaks on matters of faith and morals, but there are certainly personal opinions which he holds which are not infallible. As for school, if you're flat out being told a falsehood by your Dean of Thelology, Students and professors, are you simply going to shrug it off and accept it? I would hope not. And finally phatmass. dUSt certainly isn't infallible. dUSt certainly isn't always right. And in this instance he isn't. There is nothing that he can do to justify placing the phishy tag on me. I have repeatedly stated that I am in the Church. I have repeatedly defended the Church. I have repeatedly defended right thinking in the Church. What I haven't done is stroke dUSt's ego and tell him he's right, when he's not. So, while dUSt may put out the site...the site is bigger than dUSt. IF he is genuine about his actions then he will remove the tag and restore my good name. I am not asking to be a scholar again. I am not asking to hold any sort of anything. That's fine...but to say that I don't represent the Church, that is a lie. And that is slanderous. He has no basis on which to make that assumption, especially when I have stated otherwise many, many times. The reality is this. Yes there are things above our paygrade, but there are things which are not. We have the right to speak about those things. If we don't, then it should be made clear that we don't. If all we are allowed to talk about is "unicorns and glitter," then so be it. But that is not conducive to the original mission of phatmass, now is it?
