well, criticism of the Pope and Bishops and Priest of the Catholic church seems to be desired by a few of you, and some of it is even allowed here, so, I don't see why the SSPX is sooooo special that they should be left out of all the fun!!!

It most certainly isn't desired. Not at all. I find no pleasure in any of this. I would love for there to be no trouble with regard to these issues. It is easily corrected though. I mean the answer is REALLY simple.

If the leadership of the Church (at all levels) simply follows what the Church asks for, then it all goes away. The Church has 2000 years of history to grow and learn from. But much of that history is being ignored. Much of that history is being distorted. Much of that history is being erased.

I've never said that the SSPX is perfect. I've never even said the SSPX is desirable. I've said that I am assisting at an SSPX chapel because it is most properly free from the liturgical aloofness which permeates the leadership of the Church today. I have not said that anyone should go to an SSPX chapel. I have not promoted them as being correct and the Magisterium being incorrect. I have simply said that I have problems with Modernism creeping into the Church through certain individuals and I have retreated to a place where I know that Modernism doesn't exist.

If the SSPX is renormalized maybe your tag should read "I DO NOT REPRESENT PHATMASS" or "I DO NOT REPRESENT DUST." Or better yet, "OPPRESSED MINORITY MARKED FOR MARGINALIZATION." :punk:

That is an interesting concept. Who and how does one actually determine that "I don't represent the Church?"

Are they just assuming that I don't?
Are they just assuming that I am not 100% faithful to Rome, even though I've said that I am?
Are they just assuming that I am outside the Church, when even the Church doesn't think that I'm outside the Church?
Does anyone on this site, outside of the clergy, actually "Represent" the Church? Insofar as I am baptized and confirmed, I represent the Church in the same way that anyone else does, I believe.
How does one get to that level that they "Represent" the Church?

Funny thing is, I don't feel marginalized. Should I feel that way? I mean I accept with 100% certainty that everything the Church teaches through her authentic Magisterium is valid. I accept the 1983 CIC. I accept the 1992 Catechism, but prefer the Baltimore Catechism (which are non-contradictory, as far as I can see). I accept the rubrics of the Mass as being lawful. I prefer the liturgical books of 1962 to the books of 1969 (et. al), but as has been discussed here for the last several days, I've been going to all of the ceremonies of the latter, because I was at my parents. That's interesting, don't you think? I don't know, I guess if those things should make me feel marginalized then I should re-evaluate how I view myself in the Church.

Nihil Obstat

I'm also especially fond of the Catechism of the Council of Trent. I'm not as familiar with it as I would like, but it's a lot of fun to read. :)
