Anastasia13
How important is it to dress around light colors rather than black for Easter? I can't find my light colored shoes that I have not had occasion to look at in 6 months.
CatherineM
Don't carry a purse, but I'm wearing a hot pink Yankees hat. Southern women have to have their Easter hats.

Tally Marx
Light colors are supposed to reflect joy, spring, rebirth, etc. You won't be committing any mortal son or violating any major rule for wearing a darker color. I'm in blue and brown...

IgnatiusofLoyola
Wear whatever color you want. Supposedly, white shoes and purse should not be worn before Memorial Day, but in MY rule book, the ONLY time white shoes are acceptable is on your wedding day. Otherwise, go for a very light beige. Some exceptions: 1) If you are a nurse, on her way home from work, 2) You are the Queen--she makes her own rules, but she looks ridiculous in white shoes, 3) the Pope--HE can wear white shoes whenever he wishes, and never looks ridiculous, in fact, with rare exceptions, looks quite the opposite whatever he wears. The "white" rule does not apply to sneakers, but sneakers at Mass should be avoided, IMO. However, God is mostly just glad you're there. Also, children, especially babies, can get away with white shoes, particularly for their first communion. Except for the white shoes rule, and its multiple exceptions, any other color is acceptable. Nowadays, it's even acceptable to wear black to weddings. Just wear a color that looks good on you and that makes you feel good.

Although John Paul II (I hope this doesn't get me banned for talking about him) wore tennis shoes when he hiked and as a rule didn't wear red shoes, he wore brown loafers.... The current Pope wears red shoes all the time.
OnlySunshine
I'm wearing a new white dress with pink polka dots and a pink shrug so I needed to find either white or pink shoes. White shoes were the staple in Payless so I bought some really pretty and comfortable ballet style flats in white. I also got a white purse to match. I normally don't go for white dress shoes, but these look really nice, so I got them. Edited April 24, 2011 by MaterMisericordiae

CatherineM
I'm wearing polka dots too. My hospital gowns are brown with white polka dots. The fabric was so ugly that I got it for 50 cents a yard.
