MIKolbe
Peyton & I went to Holy Thursday Mass. They had the incense. It was cute because once she noticed the incense, she started to breathe really deeply through her nose. I think she likes the smell. LOL Had a mini procession after Mass to the side chapel. Father mentioned/suggested we all spend time in adoration (always nice to hear a priest suggest this) and that at midnight, they would do compline (sp?). I thought I could come back at 11 and stay an hour, experience the compline. Got home around 9pm with Peyton after Mass, really tired. I off-handedly mentioned it to Shea. She wondered if I was young enough to stay up that late. I told her I wondered that too. I was tired. really tired. Quite honestly, at 10:15 I was already 'snoring' (I call it breathing deeply) on the couch. When Shea said she couldn't hear the TV because of my 'snoring', I told her sorry and that I was going to bed. Then the oddest thing happened, she asked if I was going to Adoration. Firstly, my wife really isn't incredibly interested in my religious practices. She is not rude or snobby or anything, she's just uninterested. Secondly, my wife has never called it Adoration. She has always called it 'going to Church'. (for those who may not know, my wife is not Catholic) Anything from CCD to Adoration to Stations to a Bible Study is all 'going to Church' to her. Then....then she says, 'come on, you're almost there...just leave in 15 minutes and you'll be fine'. She was encouraging me to go to Adoration. That phrase along kinda snapped me awake and quick. So I went. Possibly one of the best nights of my entire life. Maybe this is weird, but I felt like we were talking. Does this happen? Another odd thing...I called Him 'Master'. I have never done that...not out of any pride or anything...It just has never really happened before. I felt extremely comfortable calling Him 'Master'. Is this odd? Has anything like that ever happened to anyone before? iono...just wanted to share this experience, I suppose..
BG45
I don't think it's odd, and glad you got to go! This semester has been really heavy workload wise for me, and sadly a lot of stuff like Bible Study went on the wayside, but I've kept my holy hour at the university parish here for pretty much the way you describe this. It feels like a conversation with Him; I take a book, a pen, and some paper and sit there. I stare at Him on the altar, and I try to just talk it out, be it silently in my head or words on a page. I think it's amazing that your wife encouraged you to go! And maybe the closest I can come to your feeling weird about calling Him, Master, and being okay with it is this excerpt from one of the letters I wrote before Him
Every time I come to spend the hour with You in Adoration, I find I don't want to leave. I want to just sit or kneel before You forever. A foretaste of eternity for a man whose greatest fear is that same concept. Lord, if this is but a peaceful foretaste, then I beg for a servant's place at the eternal banquet.
MissyP89
What is "normal" in spirituality is entirely subjective I think. God allows us to experience what we need to, when we need to, in order to make us holier. And he's willing to use anyone -- stubborn priests and disinterested wives included -- to do it. So yeah, it's normal. Especially at this time of year. Now answer your dang Skype. I'm going to let it ring until you do.

MissyP89
Way to lead me on, jerk. I was thrilled at the prospect of reconnecting with my long-lost buddy and pal. But noooo. And don't call me. My phone is running out of minutes and I am a working woman now.

MIKolbe
That's kinda what I am thinking...or hoping...
BG45
There's never anything wrong with hoping! And you have plenty of friends who will keep on praying in the meantime. My mom's been telling me a lot this semester a line that I think you'll like to use for yourself to, "If God leads you to it, He'll lead you through it". MissyP89
It's my confessor's slogan. He's pounding it into my head until I learn humble resignation. Save me.

BG45
Red, Normally I hate platitudes, but given how everything perfectly fell into place for me to get here, including a roommate, full assistantship for a tuition waiver plus stipend, actual fellowship once I got here, etc. it seems accurate. Missy, my mom and your Confessor think alike? Scary... Praying for you and S, Jason!
