Cam42
Some of you have read this someplace else, some of you haven't. I am posting this over here, as a matter of clarification regarding the incident which got me banned from this site in January. Read at your own peril....this is not a debate. This is not Catholic v. Catholic. This is not anything other than what it is. I am not going to fight with anyone over this, I've pretty much made up my mind, but I want to be perfectly clear so that I can make sure the air is clean. I've put a lot of time into this place over the years and made a few friends and apparently more than a few enemies....so I think that I owe clarification to those who are still my friends and as a matter of transperency, I am going to repost here. Quoting myself:
Hello All, As a matter of transparency, I am writing this today to let everyone know that I have made a very difficult decision and one that has not come lightly. It has been done with serious thought and there has not been one second of this taken lightly or with any thought other than for the Greater Glory of God. I have decided to start assisting at an SSPX chapel exclusively. The concerns that they raise and the views that they hold about Holy Mother Church are more and more in line with my own views. I've done a lot of research and even more prayer regarding the move that I am going to make. Also, while the priests are suspended, there is nothing invalid about what they do in their ministry. With the lifting of the excommunications, the legitimacy of the SSPX has risen and the adherence to tradition and Tradition has brought me to this understanding. So that we are clear, there are 4 issues that drove me over the edge. 1. The Mass 2. Eccelsiology (including ecumenism and "inter-faith" dialogue) 3. Religious Tolerance (*sic* Freedom) 4. The Magisterium of Vatican Council II While most of you know that I've been sympathetic to them for years, I've only decided after a long talk with my spiritual director and my confessor that this is the route that I should go. If this makes me undesirable or if my credibility is somehow damaged, I will live with it. I also don't want anyone to be scandalized by this, for Rome says there is no scandal in adhering to the SSPX. If this makes me [...] phishy, then that is fine. I just can't stand on the picket fence any longer. If I slip, the consequences would be disasterous...if you get my meaning....so I've decided to jump off on the right side, as opposed to the left. For the record, I am not repudiating the Catholic Faith and I fully intend to remain 100% faithful to the Holy Father. But the above mentioned issues are too big to ignore.
Thanks for the years of fun and fellowship. I wish that it could continue, but as it is things change and this is the direction that my conscience, illumined by 2000 years of Catholic tradition has led me to follow. I keep all of you in my prayers. I don't know how much I'll be posting here in the future, if at all as I have found a forum which accepts and wants me to be active. I will lurk and I will post from time to time, but I just refuse to say how much. I feel that it's time to be honest and get it all on the table....
