kafka
a bat in the chapel. I shoved a bucket over him during noon Mass! Was crawling in the aisle. Going to take him to the humane society, but first I have to slip a piece of cardboard underneath the bucket, and ducktape shut. He is getting restless though. . . just took a moment for a breather. Lord help me.

I think the problem people have might be that you considered it "fun" to kill things with tennis racquets. And worse, that you still look back on the episode with fond memories. ~Sternhauser

Actually it was my Dad and my bros done most of the killing of the dumb bats! I was trying to make it as a joke but as u can see people r way too sensitive! gosh i dont kill things for fun! Hey if ya wanna hear worst things that people have done to animals and even to human beings, ask me about it! i know cuz i live by stinkin hillbillies! lol Also we had to kill the bats in our house cuz they cause damage and what if one of them bit me? It was not a fond memory cuz it cost us money and stuff! why do people only care for animals instead of human babies? i do not know why! Also this doesnt mean that when i go hunting cuz it is fun, i go hunting to enjoy God's nature and also get food for my family and myself. I love animals and sometimes my only friends i do have r animals! Im sorry if anybody took what i said in a bad way!
kafka
I got him to the humane society this afternoon. We've had a guy working on the bells in the steeple and this is what I think flushed him down. I'm thinking he lost his direction in the chapel and was simply creeping around looking for a dark spot or food when we found him in the aisle at the noon Mass (right before Communion). I didnt want to kill him to no purpose. He is a mammal created by God and he wasnt attacking anyone. I didnt want to release him outside since bats are nocturnal so it wouldnt help to release him at mid-day especially if he is weak through hunger and fatigue. And if he did have rabies he could have flown at me or someone else on the streets (we are in a city.) All it takes is a scratch. When I got him in the bucket, he was scratching around, and shooting his sonor. It was pretty amazing and beautiful to hear the sonar. I named him Bruce. but I dont know what the humane society did with him. . . first time I've ever done something like that.

They are good creatures because they reduce insects and keep pests in check.
kafka
btw, its not like we have a bat problem in the chapel I take care of. The steeple is sealed off from the chapel, but the bell repairman had the door open when he was doing his repairs. They probably just live in the steeple, and go in and out through the vents at night. I only go up to the steeple to change ceiling lights and dust the bells when they get a lot of snow, etc.
