OnlySunshine
JoyfulLife, they may have become more stringent about their entrance age cutoff since I was there. It would be worth checking with the VD about that!

Oh boy... That will make things difficult... On the bright side, I'm sure grateful that I'm within the accepted age range! Does "cut-off of 30" mean you can enter AT 30, but must be before you hit 31, or does it mean it must be before you hit 30?
I saved the emails that Sr. Louise sent me and this is the direct quote about school and the age limit:
Our age limit also is 30. I would suggest coming on a retreat to get some exposure to us. If you are interested in us or any other specific order, I would suggest applying after you get your associates in the Fall, before you obtain a Bachelors. If you are accepted, I would suggest theoretically undertaking postulancy and novitiate in order to discern if you are called to religious life, because if the answer during that time were negative, then you would go on to pursue the Bachelors. If the answer were positive, you would not be fighting the age deadline.

We haven't discussed the entrance requirements or procedures because I don't want to get into that until I meet them in person.
Sarah147
I just meant what they look for in a person to see if they are called or not...

Sarah147
Oh yes, I do think she meant you personally. I just wondered if she said anything that could apply to all, as far as how both sides can determine along the way if any person is called or not. It's something I have wondered. It's difficult for me because I could EASILY use a few more years of maturing and growing, but the age cut-off hinders that a lot... But if it's THE order and they accept me, I've got to make a way to enter sooner than later. Edited April 19, 2011 by JoyfulLife

Sarah147
but the vocation director at the convent said that since I am close to their cut-off age of 30 (I'll be 28 in July), I should consider applying to enter very soon.
Why the rush if you have two years left? How long does the application process take and what is involved in applying and getting accepted? I would think it would be better to wait to apply until I have visited them at least two times. But, we will see what God has in mind when I get there. Sarah147
I want to visit twice, too, God-willing. But really, I don't see the rush to apply if you have two years. I wish their limit was 35 or 40. Now THAT would be great for me. Edited April 20, 2011 by JoyfulLife
