Hey guys, I dunno if you could tell by my avatar but I'm a big Super/Comic fan. Just saw the X-men: First class and it was very good, but I liked the first 4 better. A couple things stood out to me:

A.) The Beast is an immense butthead. lol

B.) The movie had two strip club scenes, an Emma Frost being Emma Frost scene, and shapely manniquins (That's the only reason the pg13 rating said brief partial nudity). For an adult this movie does not go too far in my opinion.

C.) Logan has a cameo!!!

D.) The continuity is a complete mess.

E.) I was immensely entertained enjoying the characters especially Mystique, Charles, Banshee, and Moira.

F.) Thor was better by a lot.

My fave Xmen movies are this in order, XMW, X3, X2, Xmen, and then 1st class.

However like the previous two movies I just discussed that have come out this year I had low expectations for both of them. I have low expections for the green lantern as well and I have been a big fan from my youth. I don't like Ryan Reynolds a whole lot or Mark Strong either. That brings up an interestiong point: Mark Strong was chosen for the role after Hugo Weaving had decided the Captain America script was better. I think that Captaing America will be the best movie this summer. Hugo Weaving hasn't been in a bad movie since I can't remember when.

First Class was a pile of crud. Every male character was essentially homosexual or, at the very least, portrayed in an effeminate manner. The mutants were, by and large, trite and inconsequential. Aside from Michael Fassbender as Magneto, the casting was atrocious, with the most egregious decisions being Mystique, Charles and whoever it was Kevin Bacon was trying to portray.

The scene where someone (Magneto?) was saying something about how "they" were going to "enslave" the mutants, the quick-cut to the black guy (Havoc?) was equal parts hilarious and uncomfortable.

And the continuity--within the movie universe and the comic universe-- was nonexistent! I mean, how could Wolverine show up unless you establish a REASON that he could appear the same age in 1962 and in the 2000s?!

And Beast? I mean, he looked like he stepped off the Broadway show Cats, and stopped by a barber shop to get a blowout first!

The only good part of this movie that was any good was Magneto, who was amesome. More of him less of nearly everything else would have made the movie at least mildly entertaining. As it was, I was intensely bored and wildly disappointed.

More knowledgeable fans might elaborate further but didn't Wolverine tell Professor X in the first movie that he didn't age as much as the others because of his healing powers?

I thought the cameo was hilarious, btw.

I thought X-Men: First Class was rad. And in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, he looks about the same age a hundred years ago so I think it's established.

I was a tad disappointed in Green Lantern for a couple of reasons:
1: not quite as much action as I'd like
2: explanation of how the Green Lantern organisation and tech works is superficial at best
3: I have philosophical problems with a movie which claims that human will is infinite
4: related to 3- the human will does NOT train that fast. It makes Hal's character unbelievable.

REALLY!? That's horrible...

I'm still stoked to see it. Maybe we have super different taste in movies? I'm hoping.
