Paintballing As Youth Group Activity?

Does anyone think there is anything wrong with having your youth group go paintballing as an activity for youth group? There is a local field that provides everything for $25 per person with groups of 10 or more.

My youngest's little league did that once. The only problem is that it made a perfect venue for the bullies in the group to shine, and kind of brought out a lot of testosterone and aggressiveness.

Go for it. i have never had anything but fun at paintballing. keep an eye on them. either formally discourage bullying, or if you notice it happening, well you have a paint ball gun, mete out retribution for your fallen comrades.

Do it! Make sure you have enough people to play by yourselves though--nothing worse than getting thrown into a group with some hardcore, just got back from active duty, paintball professionals.

What is this problem that you alluded to? :)

I think it's a great idea. If kids are going to be bullies, then this provides a way for parents to know which kids are bullies, and for their own parents to correct the behavior, if possible. Testosterone and aggressiveness are natural boy traits, and should not be thought of as bad.

do it, and your youth group will love you forever.

Absolutely. I have never seen a youth ministry more excited than when we asked them if they wanted to go paintballing. Contrary to popular belief the females of our youth ministries were also excited. Our youth group didn't go because of not having enough drivers and some paperwork or something but if we get our act together I would bring it up again at a meeting. Check out www.christianpaintball.com by the way while your at it, tis even got its own phorum!

Yeah, boys' activities should be restricted to things like knitting and playing with dolls. God forbid any testosterone be brought out!

My first youth group did that. I didn't participate (cause I'm kinda wimpy :P) but everyone else loved it.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam

I agree with dUst. The worst is playing with people who have the machine guns and extra ammo and are just laying into the tree you are hiding behind with no regard for their ammo.

Also, the last time I played it was with a giant group of family and alot of the girls were worried about the pain. The place near home has chest protectors for women. You should check and see if the place by ya'll has them too.
