Cherie
A little closer to finding out, if you read Italian ... http://www.accademia...francescane.htm Also, a biography on the foundress, in Italian: http://www.accademia...iculum/Patrizi/ Apparently she founded the SMMI, then had to leave for health reasons, and there was a divide in the community. Afterward a new community was established, the Franciscan Sisters, Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus and Mary Immaculate; they also have a male branch. They are present in 8 dioceses around the world.

My parents have a house very near to Loreto (15 minutes by car) and I often go there in the summer. If someone is interested I can ask some informations for you. They have really recently opened a new house in italy also here: http://www.arcidiocesidispoletonorcia.it/component/content/article/8-brevi/403-roccaporena-arriva-una-nuova-comunita-religiosa.html
FutureSister2009
Is it wrong that they're similar? And adding to my original question for the purpose of this thread, I also think the Children of Mary habits are quite amesome. I love purple

I apologize if I made it seem that way by my posts. I was just quite certain the two communities had some sort of relation to one another, it was just a matter of trying to figure it out! OnlySunshine
The order I am praying to visit in a few months has one of the most beautiful habits I've ever seen--the Sister Servants of the Eternal Word. They combine the Franciscan brown and the cord with the Dominican white tunic and beautiful, long veil. I love their habit and it reminds me a lot of another of my favorite--the Sisters of Life. I've always liked the Sisters of Life's habit since I met them in December 2007. It is so very Marian and feminine. I also really love the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate's habit because it's so simple, yet so feminine. Their veil is so beautiful, too, and LONG! Chamomile
I mean, who's going to wear shoes in Heaven? So that begs the question - since Dominicans already have the white robe thing down for Heaven, why do they wear shoes? And not sandals, usually... shoes.
