It's a little mnemonic device.

Tis from a lil book called Josh and the Three Tree. Helps kids memorize the 10 Commandments.

1 run - you shall have no other gods before me. picture God running track and whomping the rest
2 shoe - you shall not take the Lord's name in vain. picture your brother about to curse and stuffing a shoe into his mouth to stop him

etc etc

Can you fill this out for me? I have not heard this before. I never heard a pattern like that for learning the commandments, at least as far as I can remember.

It was okay for Moses to make images on the Ark of the Covenant, but not for us to have statues of Mary around.

Fascinating.

This wallpaper on this site displays the 10 commandments as made up by the protestants. They seperate the 1st commandment into 2, and the last two commandments they combine into one. Who here can list the Catholic (and original) 10 Commandments?

The 10 Commandments was made up by God!

I should also add in order to make up for the overemphasis against creation of images, protestants add women to the list of men's property. How do you like them apples.
[/quote]

that's how women were viewed in those days, as property, as no different than slaves.
Jesus changed the status of women. A lot of women followed Jesus and ministered
to his needs while he was on earth. Also in the early Christian church, St Paul uses
a lot of women in his key positions.

Yet, if the Catholic ordering of the commandments is the correct one, it would make sense that the equality of the sexs "Neither Jew nor Greek, male nor femaile" would be more indicative of the correct Christian ordering. And again it is obvious to me that a violation of the first, to worship the one true God is vilated by an idol.
