kafka
from a class I gave last week. They might be useful for someone here: The Blessed Virgin Mary Mary predicted in Genesis and Isaiah (and other places in Sacred Scripture) {3:15} I will put enmities between you and the woman, between your offspring and her offspring. She will crush your head, and you will lie in wait for her heel. (Genesis) {7:14} For this reason, the Lord himself will grant to you a sign. Behold, a virgin will conceive, and she will give birth to a son, and his name will be called Immanuel. (Isaiah) Parents: Saints Joachim (Heli) and Anne {3:23} And Jesus himself was beginning to be about thirty years old, being (as it was supposed) the son of Joseph, who was of Heli, who was of Matthat, (Luke) Immaculate Conception {70:6} In you, I have been confirmed from conception. . . (Psalms) A singular grace of being created with sanctifying grace as well as sinlessness and perfection throughout life. “immaculate in every respect . . . the one who surpassed all integrity and virginity . . . the dwelling place of all the graces of the most Holy Spirit. . . . perfectly pure, ever immaculate, and ever blessed.” (Ineffabilis Deus) Service in the Temple of Jerusalem (Temple Virgin) The Annunciation (was thirteen only thirteen years old!) {2:19} Jesus responded and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” {2:20} Then the Jews said, “This temple has been built up over forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?” {2:21} Yet he was speaking about the Temple of his body. The temple of Jerusalem is a symbol for Jesus’ human nature. 46 minus 13 years when Jesus assumed a human nature in Mary is 33 years old when Jesus died on the Cross. {1:26} Then, in the sixth month, the Angel Gabriel was sent by God, to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, . . . {1:38} Then Mary said: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word.” And the Angel departed from her. (Luke) Visit to Saint Elizabeth (pregnant with John the Baptist) {1:46} And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord. . . . {1:55} just as he spoke to our fathers: to Abraham and to his offspring forever.” (Luke) Miraculous Virgin Birth of Jesus at Bethlehem The birth of Jesus was miraculous, preserving Mary's perpetual virginity from conception. At one moment Jesus was in Mary's womb and in the next he was outside in the world. Presentation of Jesus at the Temple Mary sorrows are predicted: {2:34} And Simeon blessed them, and he said to his mother Mary: “Behold, this one has been set for the ruin and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and as a sign which will be contradicted. {2:35} And a sword will pass through your own soul, so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” (Luke) Flight into Egypt Home Life at Nazareth Losing Jesus at the Temple {2:48} And upon seeing him, they wondered. And his mother said to him: “Son, why have you acted this way toward us? Behold, your father and I were seeking you in sorrow.” {2:49} And he said to them: “How is it that you were seeking me? For did you not know that it is necessary for me to be in these things which are of my Father?” {2:50} And they did not understand the word that he spoke to them. {2:51} And he descended with them and went to Nazareth. And he was subordinate to them. And his mother kept all these words in her heart. {2:52} And Jesus advanced in wisdom, and in age, and in grace, with God and men. (Luke) Jesus gives Mary to John at the Crucifixion {19:26} Therefore, when Jesus had seen his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold your son.” {19:27} Next, he said to the disciple, “Behold your mother.” And from that hour, the disciple accepted her as his own. (John) John represents the Church. By this gesture Mary is made the Mother of the Church Mary after the Resurrection of Jesus Moved to Ephesus. John also lived in the area, and visited her from time to time. Prayed and helped the early Church. Mary’s Death, Resurrection and Assumption into Heaven (died when she was 63 according to Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich) {3:6} I have slept, and I have been stupefied. But I awakened because the Lord has taken me up. (Psalm) {131:8} Rise up, O Lord, into your resting place. You [Jesus] and the ark of your sanctification [Mary]. (Psalm) The Apostle Thomas arrives late (from somewhere in eastern Asia perhaps India) after Mary’s death. He visits her tomb to find that she is gone. (According to Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich) Mary dedicates her life in Heaven to helping Jesus in the work of salvation! Mary is the Queen of Heaven and Earth {44:10} . . . The queen [Mary] assisted at your right hand, in clothing of gold, encircled with diversity. (Psalm) Mary will return with Jesus (at the Second Coming) {1:15} Behold, over the mountains, the feet of the Evangelizer [Jesus] and the Announcer of peace [Mary]. Judah, celebrate your festivals and keep your vows. For Belial [Antichrist] will never again pass through you; he has completely passed away. Mary will be with the just forever.
