MargaretTeresa
Ok...I'm a history nerd. So, I was just curious about a list of the various Mary apparitions, etc., and a good place to read about them. And what's your favorite one? I'm particularly interested in Our Lady of Prompt Succor...I know a little, but not much, about that particular story. Thanks. Pax and God bless. OnlySunshine
My favorite Marian apparition is Our Lady of Grace, which is also known as the Miraculous Medal Image or Our Lady Immaculate or the Immaculate Conception. Mary looks beautiful in this image and, since I am consecrated to Our Lady Immaculate, she is extra special to me. The statue of Our Lady of Grace is the very first statue I purchased ever! My second favorite is Our Lady of Guadalupe. I just feel drawn to that image of Our Lady for some reason. Edited March 30, 2011 by MaterMisericordiae
FutureSister2009
I love many of them like Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe (I still don't know if I can spell that) Our Lady of Grace, Our Lady of the Smile. There's a lot of great ones!

Piccoli Fiori JMJ
+JMJ I was very interested in Our Lady of LaSalette in college and I helped my sister research Our Lady of Akita for her Confirmation Saint. I know the PMer StColette is a big Mariologist (and mommy) and could recommend several books if you want to learn more. Here are a few she recommended about Our Lady of LaSalette:

A Woman Clothed With the Sun : Eight Great Appearances of Our Lady by John J. Delany
You Will Make this known to all My People by the Franciscan Friars Of the
The Final Warning Paul A. JenDeMaria
Ok...I'm a history nerd. I'm particularly interested in Our Lady of Prompt Succor...I know a little, but not much, about that particular story. Thanks. Pax and God bless.
The best place to read about Marian apparitions is at The Miracle Hunter http://www.miraclehunter.com/ It lists ALL the Marian apparitions, has timelines, gives perspective on legitimacy and Church approval, etc. It's thorough. There's a difference, though, between apparitions, titles and devotional images, which sometimes blur into each other (so the Miraculous Medal is a devotional item resulting from an apparition connected to a title, Our Lady of Grace). It's difficult, though, to find a resource that covers all of them in one place, especially if you're really interested in a devotion related to a title, such as Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Having said that, U Dayton's resource page looks amazing, and I would start there: http://campus.udayto.../infomenu.html. Wikipedia can also be a great springboard: http://en.wikipedia...._or_apparitions My favorite Marian title is Holy Mother of God. I can't pick a favorite Marian apparition. Edited to add: I've just realized that while I cannot force myself to pick a single Marian apparition as my favorite, I do have Our Lady of Fatima as my profile image at the moment, so there's that Edited May 7, 2011 by JenDeMaria
JenDeMaria
Are there any stories for L'Innocence and Madonna of the Streets? I love both of them but I do not know the stories.
Both are popular secular images which resonate with Marian devotees -- which means that while there is no apparition, no devotion and no religious title connected to them, and while they were never meant to hang in a Church, they still have the ability to enkindle solid devotion in our hearts. I cannot find anything to share with you on the painting L'Innocence except that it is one of many beautiful images painted by William Bougeureau who specialized in romantic images of either Christian or Mythological origin. The Madonna of the Streets is another story, though. It's interesting that, while it began life as a secular image not necessarily intended to evoke the Blessed Virgin Mary it has become a devotional image and is even part of the habit of a religious order. There is a wikipedia article on the image here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonnina_%28painting%
