Lisa
Legend says that Dominic received a vision of a beggar who, like Dominic, would do great things for the Faith. Dominic met the beggar the next day. He embraced him and said, "You are my companion and must walk with me. If we hold together, no earthly power can withstand us." The beggar was Saint Francis of Assisi. MissScripture
Pictures, please.
Unfortunately, I have yet to figure out a way to take a picture of the tank where you can actually make out anything. And while the Dominicans are black and white tetras (like the first picture) the Franciscans are red and blue (like the second picture). The Franciscans were blue and red, because that just happened to be the colors of the first 2 I got and I wanted to name them Clare and Francis. Well, I had to get all the way to Francis the Third, before getting a Francis that lived, but he is a tenacious one! He lived through the Great Tank Plague of July, and is still alive and flipping. The Dominicans were added after the Franciscans, when my little sister (who is now a Dominican) was visiting and helping me pick out more fishies. She was instantly drawn to the black and white ones. And she is the one who explained to me how perfect it would be, since Francis and Dominic were friends. Well, she is a very spoiled little sister, and I have a hard time saying no to her, so we went on with the Dominican school. We also had a ghost shrimp named Athanasius, but he died mysteriously... Cherie
(sorry Vee, couldn't find Franciscan-Dominican-Carmelites all in one picture)
ACTUALLY ... In our (meaning the Sister Servants of the Eternal Word) newsletter from when we went to Rome, we found a painting of St. Francis, St. Dominic, and some unidentified other man in a brown habit. Who on earth could that be, we wondered? Someone who worked at the Basilica told us it was St. Angelo of Licata, a CARMELITE from Sicily! Apparently at the time St. Francis and St. Dominic met, it was St. Angelo of Licata who was preaching. In the picture, they were all embracing. The Sisters LOVED this image because not only do they have a Franciscan and Dominican charism, they have a GREAT devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the brown scapular (their normal entrance date is July 16th). I wish I could find this picture ... but alas, I cannot. I can't even remember exactly what Basilica it was. But it's in all in the Sisters' newsletter, if I could find a copy I could scan the picture! But here is a pic of St. Angelo anyway :
