Aloysius
the absolute coolest kid's book (that I was obsessed with as a kid) EVER is being re-released by Scholastic! scholastic has even updated the website and they're already shipping the new versions (with all sorts of mistakes, or to those who are in the know, "KASUs" fixed): http://www.animorphs.com come on, turn into animals to fight aliens? who among you denies that this is the BEST PREMISE EVER for a children's book series? my biggest regret is that it's being re-released long before I'm even close to having my own kids old enough to read it! I've discovered a ridiculous fan-fiction where they try to convert the Evil Yeerks to CATHOLICISM!!! oh my goodness (don't blasphemy) http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3464631/1/Sacred_Host and the Skrit Na are Protestants!!! they totally would be. it's a bit unrealistic (cause they make the Yeerks totally too quick to convert... though I guess no one knows how an alien race that has never had contact with human religions would react to one, seeing as they don't really have experience rejecting religion, though they would probably side pretty easily with athiest hosts in arguments and stuff), but it's funny to me haha. so... considering that Scholastic is actually devoting quite a bit of resources into resurrecting this series... maybe they'll come around to making some big budget movie out of it (oh my goodness (don't blasphemy) if you've ever read the whole series you'd realize how EPIC that would be) by the time I have kids who are old enough for it. I'd prefer them not to end the movie series with a cliffhanger that has little to do with the original plot though, but that's just me.

ThePenciledOne
I remember those books! I was a big fan, though not of where the series eventually ended up...it made me sad and feel slightly unsatisfied. Yet, those books kept me busy for months. Woo Hoo!!! : )
Nihil Obstat
I read about ten or twelve of them. They were ok, but didn't really hold my interest for long.
Th0t
OHH EMM GEE! I would go every other day to the library to rent the next book. When they wouldn't have it, I would go back every hour to check! Hahaha I would read these books in a day. It's kind of sad that the new characters look more kiddy >.< I enjoyed the television series for sure! I don't like the new covers either. Rant alert!
What? you never read Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, how about any of Sir Arthur Conan Doyles Sherlock Holmes series, Edgar Allen Poe's vast works, H.G. Wells The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Crsytal Egg, Country of the Blind, The Man who could work Miracles? You had to read The Tale of Two Cities, Mutiny on the Bounty, Moby Johnsonville brat? These are the finest kids, as well as adult nooks I ever read, full of imagery, captivatingly told, thats why they are called Classics! Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
I remember those books! I really liked the ending (though obviously I wanted everything to work out for the best for each character because I had grown attached to them throughout the series). The reason I love the Great Gatsby is because it has a realistic ending. Animorphs (as age appropriate for its target audience and topic of war between humans and aliens) had about as realistic ending as you could get with the good guys still winning. I thought the ending was good.

A lot of intense ethical probing for children's books.
