mvi18th
I am starting to plan my Eagle Scout project and would liketo create a Butterfly Prayer Garden for our Church. Our parish priests aremembers of the Cleric Regular Minors, also known as the Adorno Fathers. Ithought it would be nice to have a garden statue of Saint Francis Caracciolo(the founder of their Order) as a center piece. Unfortunately St FrancisCaracciolo is not that well known and finding a statue at a reasonable cost isbecoming close to impossible. I was hoping that someone on Phatmass might beable to give me some advice on how I might be able to proceed. Thanks in advance!

mvi18th
have you thought of a Mary garden? While the Mary Garden looks nice, we already have several areas dedicated to Mary on the Parish Grounds. It is real important to me that I do something for our priests and this seems one of the best ways to do it - honoring their founder.
CatherineM
When my son was working on his Eagle project, he got donations to help pay for the plants and things. You could ask them to have a second collection one Sunday, or you could "rent" yourself out to do projects for people like leaf raking or lawn mowing to help pay for the statue. Luigi
If a nearby college has an art program, including sculpture classes, you might be able to talk a student (a very competent student) into making a custom statue for you. 1. S/He'd need a picture (or several) to work from, but the Adorno fathers might be able to provide those. 2. The biggest question is what material they'd use - cast concrete (like the Francises of Assisi you can buy in so many places) would probably be cheapest and still quite durable. You (or the artist) would have to seal it against the weather, and probably paint it, too. I don't know much about casting concrete myself, but an artist could research it and/or work with a prof. 3. The artist would probably want photos of the finished statue for a portfolio, but that's a small price to pay.
