AudreyGrace
Hey guys! This Easter Vigil, my best friend Lauren is becoming a Catholic!! I am her RCIA sponsor, and I'd love to get her something really nice. (not too expensive, though. I'm poor lol). Her boyfriend's mom (whos also becoming a Catholic ) already got her a nice Rosary, so that's out. Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated : )
CatherineM
I usually make rosaries for my RCIA students. Since that's out, how about a small book of catholic prayers.
MissScripture
Maybe a picture of the Holy Family or confirmation Saint? Or a small statue of the same? Or a nice crucifix necklace?
Luigi
When I sponsored an RCIA candidate, I gave her a paperback Catholic Encyclopedia. I'm a book nerd anyway, and I figured she'd run into a lot of terms & references when I wasn't around, so I gave her book where she could look stuff up. sort of as a continuation of the classes we'd been attending together. If you want to give her something pretty & memorable, too, make her a holy-card-book-mark of your own creative design to stick in the book, complete with date and schmarmy emo quote. MissScripture
Does she have a Catechism? That would be a good one, too.
OnlySunshine
A friar I know recommended the 2nd edition of the Catechism of the Catholic Church printed by Doubleday. My mom just bought it this weekend and it has quotes by Pope John Paul II. It looks really good. Also, when I was confirmed, my godmother/sponsor gave me a copy of a Catholic Bible. Both of these can be very useful and necessary to a new Catholic.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
I hear the Pope's books: Jesus of Nazareth are spectacular.

A good present would be to get her a nice medal of her patron saint.

http://www.sistersofcarmel.com/ the thing i wanted most was The Imitation of Christ but i don't know your friend and that may not be the kind of gift she'd appreciate. the carnelite sisters have a lot of gifts, some expensive, some not. they have some nice confirmation gifts as well. maybe a little prayer book would be nice for her. something simple containing the most basic Catholic prayers or a small meditation book. hugz and i hope you find something for her. i will pray for you that God will show you what to get for her. Another good idea would be to get her a gift certificate for a Catholic gift shop and let her pick out what she would like. I also like the idea of getting a small Our Lady of Graces statue. I love mine as it was the first statue I ever bought.
