IMO, this article is legitimate satire as much as the southern fundies are legitimate Christians.

I don't think any of us are in a position to begin declaring who is and who is not a Christian...

I didn't say they're not legitimate.

I'll grant that my experience may be limited, but I've found that the "alternative lifestyle" crowd can be even more open to God and Catholicism than most people are.

I guess if mean that anything goes for them, maybe? Although I feel that alternative lifestyle defines itself as exactly what it is, its opposing nature, God and morality, so it seems to be totally closed to God, they may profess to beleive in God, but it is only if God accepts their doctrine, not if they would have to accept His, how then would this be " more open to God " ? this pastoor that married them went directly against the bible which he supposedly teaches to marry these two, his openness has just excluded the will of God, in effect he has seperated himself from God to align himself for the interests of these two deviants. What does that say about his faith? Sure he [probably uses some misguided logic such as the famous, we should hate the sin and love the sinner to justify his actions, but hating the sin while loving the sinner would have been to firmly point out that sex between two of teh same gender is a sin that denies God and refused to have married them, thereby perhaps helping them both and saving his own soul in the process.

It may have more do with the "anything goes" attitude. A lot of people aren't even open to a conversation about faith and could care less what anyone believes, but the few alt-lifestyle people I've talked with seem to have some genuine curiosity about faith even when they disagree on certain points.

In my experience, while they may have more curiosity, it is in the sense that someone is curious about the particularly bug at the museum.
I have never met someone publicly supportive of the homosexual lifestyle (or a self-identified homosexual) who is ok with the Church saying that what they do is wrong.

Hmm, I have heard it said that there are many Christians/Catholics who struggle to come to terms with their identity as homosexuals and Christian. If this is true there must be those who openly declare that they are both Christian and homosexual and for this reason the Churches stance has been to treat such people with kindness and understanding and encourage them to challenge their weaknesses in the way of the Lords Cross at all times making them feel welcome amongst us sinners. But yes you are correct they wouldn't be happy with the idea of being told they are wrong, in the same way that none of the people who condemn them and call themselves Christians don't like being told that they are sinful by their condemnation and wrong to do so.

I have. What they reject is the notion of absolute Truth, especially that Catholicism could be that Truth.

Do they not then reject the Church's doctrine that shows them to be living in sin?

I speak for my little experience.
I know people who know they are living in sin, but they are sincerely interested in Catholicism the same. I'm not speaking only of homosexuals but also divorced remarried people and other similar situations.
I'm not promoting a sinful lifestyle...but it is true that there are sinners that are sincerely interested in Jesus, as it happened also when the Christ was alive.

One who is serious about finding Christ will reject his sin. Of course it is sometimes a process to get there, but at the end of the day, they can find the truth, and they can choose to embrace it and reject themselves, or turn away and live as they please.

I'm simply saying that there are persons who are aware of their sins, even if they live in them.
I'm not commending them, but at least I think that it is better to know and recognize the Truth, even if you don't live in it, rather than to say that your sinful lifestyle is right.
As for conversion, of course I hope all sinners can reject their sins.

If they are truly open to God and Catholicism, they will turn away from their immoral "alternative lifestyle."
