How Long Can I Stay Away From Facebook?

Oh don't be so cynical ;)

I think it's because people are naturally curious and like to see what so-and-so has been up to all these years (have any kids? married? divorced? ceo? janitor?). Facebook provides a way to glean lots of personal information about someone without all that hefty interpersonal work that a real relationship takes. I don't think it's all about numbers and looking popular. It's just a more expedient way of being nosy. Thus the advent of the verb "creeping."

perhaps i'm cynical, but knowing some of the people i went to high school with, i think it's more, "Did this person turn out to be as big of a loser as I thought he/she was going to be?"

Sounds like mine. I changed my profile pic to a non-descript picture when I got married and changed my name. Now they may find me, but it will take a bit more work, and they won't necessarily be certain it is me. It has cut down on the number of unwanted friend requests. The ones that still make it through, I just ignore. :|

Surely some people have that motive, in which case you should add them so they can see precisely how much arse you've kicked which will prompt feelings of jealousy then a binge on ben & jerry's to mourn their high school physique which is long, long gone.
