OnlySunshine
I really wanted to stop using Facebook and delete my account altogether as well, but everytime I did it, I would have second thoughts and would reactivate my account. I just deleted it and installed a Firefox add-on that blocks websites. Hopefully, this time, I will get through the 2 weeks with a little more willpower. FutureSister2009
I gave it up for Lent. I'm doing pretty good without it. It's giving me more time to focus on school and help me with my spiritual growth. But I won't delete my account.

Blind
I deleted my account and never looked back. I actually watch the news on TV now and also use AOL.com for news as well. I also deleted or stopped going to almost every other forum except PhatMass and ESPN. I am trying to eliminate all the temptation and channels allowing evil into my life. Its funny though you cut one channel and 2 more pop up tempting you. Its a non-stop struggle and God will let you know when something is taking to much of your time. You just need to listen. Understand that facebook and all those other social network sites are not bad. Its just like life you can use it for good, I mean there are strip clubs close to you I am sure you just choose not to go to them. Just like you need to choose not to go to the apps that consume your time. Good luck and I am sure an hour is enough time. I would break it up maybe in 30 min blocks one in the am and one in the pm. Or just time yourself to where you only use 1 hour total. so if you go on for 15 mins in the morning you only get 45 later. there are programs out there that set it up for you as long as you use the same computer. Could be something to look into if you need that extra help to stay focused. Edited March 21, 2011 by Blind
Papist
I use FB less and less and less each day. Do I really need to know how much a girl from my high school from 25 years ago that I didn't even know likes her new stiletto shoes?

All the vital info you need in snippets of 140 characters or less!
Lil Red
i don't understand why people i went to high school with want to be my facebook friend. they weren't my friend then and didn't hang out with me, so why do they want to be 'friends' now? [/quote] Oh don't be so cynical I think it's because people are naturally curious and like to see what so-and-so has been up to all these years (have any kids? married? divorced? ceo? janitor?). Facebook provides a way to glean lots of personal information about someone without all that hefty interpersonal work that a real relationship takes. I don't think it's all about numbers and looking popular. It's just a more expedient way of being nosy. Thus the advent of the verb "creeping."
