HollyWilliams
I think I am going to give up overeating for Lent. I have a tendency to overeat on a regular basis. I once thought I was committing the sin of gluttony but a traditional priest who is our Associate Pastor told me that I am only committing the sin of gluttony if I eat to the point of making myself sick so I am going to give up overeating for Lent.
Yeah, I should think gluttony would also include wasting food, while others that it could have been easily given too, went hungry. Such as a king of old. We really need to consider our waste of all materials during Lent. Peace at Lent.

PaladinSoG
I am giving up carbonated beverages and I am limiting my self to 1 hour of video games a day. I am also going to try and hit the Adoration chapel at least once a week but hopefully more! And I am going to try and keep a small journal on things that may come to mind through prayer and what not.
Mark of the Cross
what do you mean by deliberate venial sins? i don't understand?
I don't think that it is actually a proper term, because I don't think you can accidentally sin. You can do something wrong accidentally, but it is not a sin unless you know it is wrong, but still willingly and voluntarily do it anyway. However most if not all of us commit sins which we know are sinful, but because we are not strong enough to overcome them we commit anyway. I think she means to stop those sins which we can easily overcome. But of course we should pray to Jesus to help us to overcome those sins which repeatedly defeat us. And confess Romans 7:15-18 For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. You are a daughter of Christ who was chosen for yourself, and he thinks you're awwesome and loves who you are. If there is something you don't like about yourself, remember he can and will change that. Just be patient and most of all kind to yourself as well as others. Ash Wednesday
Hubby and I are going to read from the bible every evening. I can't think of any "luxuries" that I could give up that would really make a difference spiritually. I could give up caffeine but that just ain't gonna happen. Girl's gotta work. So I'll try to "do extra"
