Guest Proud Catholic Knight
Looking for an Ash Wednesday Mass near where I work, I ran against a parish serving omelettes in place of of fish at the Fish Fry dinners this Lent. My questions are: Are eggs allowed on "no meat" Friday's? Are these guys doing something no in line with the Church's teachings? Have I been missing out? Cherie
Eggs are allowed during the Lenten abstinence. At one time, the abstinence from meat included meat byproducts such as eggs, butter, and coagulated milk. However, the current discipline of the Latin rite of the Church (which has been the norm for quite a long time!) allows Catholics to eat meat byproducts on Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent.
