TradMom
+Praised be Jesus Christ! When Daughter Benedictine joined, our family made her a book that we worked on; thinking perhaps she would enjoy sharing some of the pages with the nuns at recreation or perhaps just reading some of the pages when she found herself homesick. One of the pages had an envelope glued down and inside of it, we put in it all the "funny" saint names we could think. We titled the envelope: "What will your new name be?" (Her Abbey "surprises" the novices!) Some that we found were: Homobonus, Audivax, Canute, Emerentiana, Buonadonna....there are so many more, but that gives you an idea! We thought the sisters would find in hilarious! Our daughter did, but in her letter home, she told us that most of the older nuns thought it was very creative - but NOT funny! We were all surprised, because we thought they would find it hilarious!! Pax, TradMom
LaPetiteSoeur
In hs, there was a guy on my bus named Augustine. Everyone called him Gus. I also like St. Walburga and St. Hildegard, both rather odd names. St. Hildegard has always been a favorite.... Ignatius isn't a bad name at all. I have relatives way back whose first name is "Preserved." And his last name? Fish. This was practically a sixth cousin seventeen times removed, but his name has gone down in family legend. No kidding. But this was in the 1600s. A closer relative (1900s) middle name was Duplex! Edited March 7, 2011 by LaPetiteSoeur
