Blind
Hello I am Blind in more ways then one. I have always had a strong belief in God and Jesus and what the bible says. I just never practiced it. I have always skated through life relying on my silver tongue to save me. Well no my world has imploded. I didn't kill anyone or sell crack to babies or sell drugs period but I did break the law. So bad that there are threats of over 20 felonies and life imprisonment. But I like most people am not guilty of everything I am being accused of. But that's a whole story by itself. Right now I need someone to talk to. Some one who will listen and help guide me. Someone who can answer difficult questions and explain the why's. I am scared and need to talk and actually here a response that I know is true. I pray and ask God for guidance but I am not always sure its God I am hearing in my head. I know I need to be more specific but I am new here and am still unsure of everything, Anyone out there?
Chapel Rat
Hi Blind, I applaud your courage to seek Jesus. The steps you are taking right now to turn things around for the better will be the hardest steps, but Jesus will be right next to you. Don't give up on deeping your relationship with Christ. Make an appointment to speak to a priest to help guide you; they are there to help you. Following what the priest tells you is the surest sign that you are doing what God wants from you to get your life on track. Remember that whatever sins you confess in the Sacrament of Reconcilation (a.k.a. "confession) the priest cannot reveal it to anyone even if their life is threatned. Do the penance he tells you. Pray the Stations of the Cross. Read about St. Maximilian Kolbe's life and ask for his intercession and guidance (patron saint of prisoners). I hope that helps, but I can encourage you to *not* give up on prayer no matter what. and know that I will be praying for you.
CatherineM
We have all done things in life we aren't proud of. I've worked with a lot of convicts up to and including several on death row. Getting accused of something you didn't do is a fear we all have. No one wants to go jail. That's kind of the point of having prisons. If they were pleasant, they wouldn't be a deterrent. You can't change what you have already done. You can be determined to never repeat those mistakes, but for the now, you need to deal with just what is ahead of you. If you were one of my sons, I would encourage you to agree to accept responsibility for the crimes you did commit in exchange for not being accused of things you didn't commit. There is no shame in accepting the consequences for our actions. If you have to serve time in jail, take advantage of the time by using times of solitude to increase your prayer life. Take advantage of every educational/vocational opportunity the facility has. Learn from the experience, do not allow it to make you bitter. When you come out commit to a change of life, and giving back. I'll keep you in my prayers.
