I just read the thread on homosexuals adopting and thought this was a disturbing corollary: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-12598896

You're local legislature has enacted a new law requiring all parents to be televisions, computers, ipods, and mindless chat rooms or message boards. Never fret comrade, the burden of raising children is being taken out of you're hands!

This is completely tongue and cheek, sarcasm, a joke... just in case someone might actually make a real reply to this...

the way society thinks is if you are a christian, not for the murder of babies, not wanting the homosexual agenda pressed on children and society, not for destroying the santitcy of marriage, not for throwing your children in front of tv's all day, and not about having sex with multiple partners then you are not suitable to be a parent. although if you believe all the things above then your parent of the year.

and we wonder why society is so messed up.

Families, friendships, communities, and the social bonds of our society are breaking down. As Stalin allegedly once threatened, he didn't need to invade the west, he merely needed to destroy the family and western civilization would collapse. Ready for conquering.

PC gone completely mad! Mr and Mrs Johns said, "We are prepared to love and accept any child. All we were not willing to do was to tell a small child that the practice of homosexuality was a good thing."
I am a gay man and I would not tell a 'small child' that homosexuality is a 'good thing' .For a teenager unsure of sexual orientation it could be up for discussion but this decision is madness!

Brother Adam

It's funny that things that seemed absurd 100 years ago are now here. Given the role of a state education to indoctrinate children in the values of the state (this has always been true), the attack on homeschooling and a Catholic education [everywhere], and the increasingly discriminatory attitude towards family life (the UN sees the family as a festering disease to be wiped out), I would not be surprised if the next step is to remove children from parents unwilling to accept the deformities of such a culture would not have their nature children removed as parents are a "threat". We are already considered domestic terrorists, so the language is there and being used necessary to doing that. And we have been warned.

Further down the rabbit hole we go.

What I find the most disturbing is that they refused to say homosexuality was acceptable - they didn't claim that they would try and convince the child of their views nor even expresstheir views - they simply said they could not agree with the PC view.

Thisis akin of "if you're not willing to agree with PC,then you cannot qualify" - ridiculous!

In short, it doesn't simplyban the couple's view, it say you must be willing to openly express the PC view in particular or you don't fit the bill.

Perhaps they should try applying to foster through a Christian or Catholic foster care agency? I am sure that they would have a different set of standards.

Mark of the Cross

Political correctness has gone as balmy as our politicians. Some schools are replacing 'Bah, bah, black sheep' with 'Bah, bah rainbow sheep.' How dare they discriminate against gay sheep!

And some Christians seem to think that if you are a homosexual who is in a committed, stable, loving relationship, who is not for the murder of babies, doesn't believe that any "agenda" about homosexuality ought to be "pressed" on anybody, doesn't support destroying the sanctity of marriage, isn't in favor of throwing children in front of TV's all day, and doesn't practice or support the sort of illicit sexual practices you speak of...then you are still NOT suitable to be a parent.

Of course, those same Christians would prefer a child to be adopted by a chain-smoking Pentacostal heterosexual couple who goes to church twice a year and who supports their family through the father's work as member of a predatory bank who gives out high-interest loans to impoverished minorities who will certainly have to default a few years down the road. Ya know, because it's all about having the right genitalia.
