Okay! Here are some questions.

1. What do you feed your chickens during the winter?

2. Do geese generally get along with your other birds?

3. Are there any benefits to keeping ducks for eggs rather than chickens? What are the best duck breeds for laying?

4. Why do commercial operations always use the white breeds of turkey rather than the iconic browns?

5. Is it true that rabbit droppings can be used in the garden without first being composted?

I can tell you about the advantages of duck eggs. First, they are twice as big as chicken eggs. They are great for baking. My mom's cakes and stuff would get twice as rich it seemed like. My dad was the only one in the family who would eat them scrambled, but he used half a jar of salsa on his eggs, so I guess he didn't mind the gaminess. My mom started selling them to a local bakery to a lady who made wedding cakes. They made outrageous Easter eggs.

You could try 20 gauge I suppose, since cats aren't very big.

"1. What do you feed your chickens during the winter?"

they need alots of protein, minerals, vitamins, fats, and carbohydrates!
well i feed my chickens meat! any kind of meat!
grains: wheat, corn, and oats. but make sure not to feed them to much cuz they will get fat and lazy.
also it depends on if ur chickens are cage-up or free ranging!
u see my chickens are free ranging and they do go outside in the winter if it isnt storming outside.
one chicken eats about 2 pounds of food each week so they will probably eat more than that in the winter months.
sometimes chickens lay less eggs in the winter not because of the cold but because there is less sunshine.
chickens need sunshine so they could lay big beautiful eggs.

"2. Do geese generally get along with your other birds?"

well sometimes yes and sometimes no! i used to have geese but we got rid of them. they can get along but u have to tell the geese to be nice!"

"3. Are there any benefits to keeping ducks for eggs rather than chickens? What are the best duck breeds for laying?"

yes there is and duck's eggs are more richer in taste than the chicken eggs but in my own opinion i would stick to chickens.
But the best duck breeds to have for laying is the Runner and the Campbell because they will lay an average of 200 or more eggs yearly! and the Campbells are one of the most friendly ducks out there!

"4. Why do commercial operations always use the white breeds of turkey rather than the iconic browns?"

that is a good question and honestly i dont know why! im sorry i have to research it more!

"5. Is it true that rabbit droppings can be used in the garden without first being composted?

yes

A baseball bat is as effective, cheaper in the long run as its reusable, and a whole lot quieter. Plus you do not have to worry about residual damages.

You can reuse the shotgun to hunt though.

southern california guy

What do you think about buying chickens mail order. Is it hard to keep the chicks alive? Would I need a special chicken brooder heater thing?
