I'm supposed to interview someone who is currently of a different faith than me about their beliefs for my sorority pledge assignment this week. Basically, what do you believe and why?

Ponder away.

I believe that Jesus Christ opened a door between us and God, and that he did establish a church - but that church is based upon Peter's testimony, not on Peter himself, and that the Rock Jesus was talking about is Peter's faith and how it would endure for all time - that Jesus was the Christ - and if you follow in Peter's footsteps, following what Jesus told us all to do, than you have entered into the Church that Jesus established.

I don't have many rules - and I accept everybody who loves Jesus and honours God as my brother or sister in Christ. I don't really like the in fighting of people who follow Christ right now, it is great evidence that wolves have definitely invaded the flock because everybody is 'at each others throats;.

Similar. Willing for a short interview (few questions). Not for a long one.

Thank you. Do you call yourself a specific denomination or would you just say Christian in general?

Do you believe in the Trinity?

How do you pray and what is your understanding of prayer?

Do you believe in the Scripture alone doctrine?

Do you receive communion of any sort? If so please describe your belief on what you receive. How frequently do you receive?

Do you believe in any church hierarchy (deacons, bishops, elders, etc.)? Do women serve in such roles?

What are your views on moral issues like abortion, premarital sex, contraception, war, and homosexuality/gay marriage?
(Fellow phatmassers are reminded that this thread is not meant to be a debate and if you want to discuss any or all of his views to charitably take them to the debate table.)

Light and Truth, same questions.

I don't consider myself a part of a specific denomination - just a Christian in general.

With the huge amount of things that can be clearly seen in this world - i.e. - our solar system is the 3rd farthest solar system in our galaxy, and our planet is the 3rd planet around our sun, and that atoms are made of protons, electrons and neutrons, and so many other things - I definitely believe in the trinity because God has declared his nature in the creation.

My prayers tend to be just me expressing my situation and feelings to God, and asking him for his help in the situation. I usually conclude the prayer in the name of his son, Jesus Christ, Amen!

Yes, I do.

I have a different view of communion - I think when two people are in the same place and thank God for his blessings in their lives - like the Apostles did in Acts 2, than you are having communion.

In a respect, yes - but such hierarchy should always be evaluated by the saints - if someone in the hierarchy speaks in error, people have a right, nay - an obligation - to say - what you are doing is wrong. If the abuse continues - it is best for individuals to find a church that doesn't continue in that error.

(Fellow phatmassers are reminded that this thread is not meant to be a debate and if you want to discuss any or all of his views to charitably take them to the debate table.)[/quote]

Abortion - Jesus thought each person on the Earth was worth laying his life down for - so each child inside each womb should be treated with that respect. I would like to change the laws of my country not to allow it, but - since that is not going to happen any time soon, I am planning on writing an opinion piece to the Toronto Star Online and ask the Ontario government to do the right thing and make all medically unnecessary abortions cost out of pocket for the women who get them - because it is no fair for me to pay for the consequence of another person's actions.

Premartial sex - I think many people in love will struggle with that, as God did give us a sexuality, and it is healthy to express that sexuality, and I struggle with it sometimes. Fortunately, I have a great girlfriend who is reserving herself, and so, I can go - this is great - I have a girlfriend who has a strength that will bolster my weakness - so I get to live pure!

War - I've said it before, if someone drafted me to fight a war, I would immediately go up to my drill sgt. and say - because I am a soldier, and the Geneva Convention says that I do not have to do anything that offends my conscience, I respectfully decline to learn how to murder people who are just as against this war as I am, and I respectfully decline to enter in the war front because I do not want to be in a situation where I must shoot at people who don't want to die as much as I do not want to die. Please put me in the brig for the remainder of the war.

Homosexuality - This is where most people are going to disagree with me. I haven't lived my life right, and while Abortion is murder and I don't agree with it, it is not a lifestyle choice, homosexuality isn't the same kind of thing. Honestly, I know gay people - both women and men, and they are just as great as people as anybody else. I don't believe that I have any right to say to them their lifestyle is an abomination, because, ultimately, the way I lived my life put Jesus on the Cross, just as much as their life has. Since Jesus said he was not sent to condemn the world, I don't think I should, as his follower, condemn the world either - because I am not greater than my lord. I think the state should give people the right for anybody to marry and have the same rights as anybody else - because there should be a separation between church and state. Besides, how else do we get to show how great God is other than allowing everybody to choose any path they want, and we choosing to worship God and have peace that we know our saviour - Jesus Christ!
