Jarrod is improving, but he still has a very long road ahead. He is in no way even close to out of the woods, but they did manage to slow down the blood loss. (He was going through so much that at one point they were scared that the blood bank would run out.) He's still on ECMO and went back on continuous dialysis, but he did not code during his latest surgery!

Anyway, PLEASE keep praying - it's working!

Do you know if Jarrod was at one time part of a group called SALT. One of our head administrators for SALT has asked for us to pray for a Jarrod Kimble. I'm just wondering if this is the same Jarrod. I myself, have never met Jarrod but I'm praying all the same, SALT's family, whether I've met them or not.

Probably. I don't think Jarrod Kimble is that popular of a name. I've also never met him. I know Danielle, his new wife (they married about 2 months ago) . She helps to run the Catholic Medical Student Association at my workplace (although the word "Student" is in the title, the group is open to staff & faculty).

Thanks for the prayers! He will be needing them for quite some time.

Good grief, H1N1. I guess some people really reacted badly to that. What's a ECMO cannula repositioning? It sounds like he does need prayers!

ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) denotes the use of prolonged extracorporeal cardiopulmonary bypass, usually via extrathoracic cannulation.

Jarrod passed away last night. He and Danielle were married exactly nine weeks, to the hour, before he died.

I can not imagine what she must be going through. May perpetual light shine upon him.

This is so sad. I can only imagine how heartbreaking this is for her. :cry2: Prayers for her in her time of mourning, and for the repose of his soul.

The facebook prayer page is now collecting stories about Jarrod. If anyone ever doubts that they can make a difference in someone else's life, go to that page. In 23 measly years, this guy has done more than many people do in 70. I still can't think about it without crying. Jarrod's big sister wrote that the outpouring of support has been a comfort to the family. I couldn't even begin to imagine life without my little brother... and Danielle is way too young to be a widow. I am so incredibly lucky/blessed to still have my nuclear family intact.
