StephenFlanagan
Are there any new religious communities for men in the Uk that accept older vocations 50+ There seems to be lots of new communities forming in other parts of the world that offer a more traditional form of religious life. Luigi
I should think most of the English Benedictine houses are fairly traiditional, and I know the American houses of the English congregation accept some later vocations. The English Dominicans seem to be thriving as well. I'm not sure how "traditional" you're looking for or how "traditional" they are, but I know they wear habits and I haven't heard any complaints of radicalism about them. I don't know whether they take older vocations, but at least some of the American provinces do.

Chiara Francesco
How about Cistercians: http://www.bbc.co.uk/insideout/eastmidlands/series7/monastery.shtml and website http://www.mountsaintbernard.org/ - they don't state an age limit that I saw but perhaps, like women's orders in the UK, they either have no age limit or a higher one than the US. Franciscan Capuchin Friars: http://www.capuchinfriars.co.uk/ - no age given either. Carmelite Friars: http://www.carmelite.org.uk/index_friars.html Benedictines: Buckfast Abbey: http://www.buckfast.org.uk/page-home.html at English Benedictin Congregation - also lists other male communities: http://www.benedictines.org.uk/abbeys/index.htm There are probably more but even ones with stated age limits, maybe like women's orders in the US, if you write them, many will often consider and take older vocations, despite stating an age limit. NovemberFourth
I have strong links with the British Province of Carmelites. I can highly recommend them to you. You can get more information from them, with no obligation, here. http://www.carmelite.org/index.php?nuc=content&id=43 N4 Edited March 10, 2011 by NovemberFourth
