Lisa
Hi, and welcome to Phatmass! Are you looking for men's or women's communities (sorry if this seems like a dumb question- but some people ask for friends, and usernames can be deceiving) First and foremost, many communities may have an age-limit posted but will discern with you on a case-by-case basis. So if you feel like God's leading you somewhere, it never hurts to ask. Many men's communites will accept older vocations- I have a 55 year old Dominican priest who was ordained a year ago, so he was in his mid-40's at entering. Here are some other forums that have dealt with this in the past: http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/index.php?showtopic=110039&st=0&p=2194869&hl=+mature%20+vocations&fromsearch=1&#entry2194869 http://consecrated-life-org.maritzia.com/orders-in-the-us/communities-accepting-women-over-45/ http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/index.php?showtopic=93474&st=0&p=1852496&hl=+mature%20+vocations&fromsearch=1&#entry1852496

Lisa
Ok, I found some things on the internet: National Religious Vocation Centre: http://www.ukvocation.org/home.html List of some orders with links to each one: http://www.godknowsw...s_to_orders.htm You have said "New" a couple of times. It appeared that the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity has something in the UK, and I think they evaluate older candidates on a case by case basis. When you have your ten posts, consider PM'ing Dame Agnes- I think she's from the UK and might have a better idea. Starets
We are new in that we are less than 50 years old. We accept older vocations, after all I was well into my 40s when i joined. But it takes a longer period of discernment. We ask for a longer period of time to get to know the older candidates. We do have a Novice who is in his 50s and another one in his 40s. I really enjoyed the series on the Monastery from Worth with Abbot Christopher Jamison. I don't know if they take older vocations, but I was just passing this on to you just in case. It never hurts to inquire and tell them you might be interested in their order, even though they may say they have an age limit. Once they get to know you and see that you are very serious and have a true vocation, they just might be very happy to allow you to join. Give it a try!
