fides quarens intellectum
okay. Ethiopian food is a bunch of different styles of wots (i think that means stew), such as cabbage, beef, lamb, carrots, spinach, lentils, split peas, etc. These wots are served on injera bread, which is made of teff flour (only grows in Eastern Africa) - it's a spongy kind of flatbread. To eat Ethiopian, you don't use utensils - you tear off a piece of injera bread, take a pinch of whichever wot you'd like, and enjoy. MMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I love Ethiopian because I do not like meat and there are a variety of tasty vegetable dishes that they prepare to go with the delicious injera bread. Also, the taste is not too spicy, so I love it. CatherineM
Lebanese, Greek, Mexican (real stuff not Tex-mex), Vietnamese. My favorite Ethiopian restaurant (and there are a dozen in my neighborhood) is one run by some Eritreans who rent our church for their masses. I love this spinach dish called Quosta. We can go a week without some phở đặc biệt. That's a Vietnamese soup with everything that people usually throw out. In Little Lebanon here, there's a bakery that uses wood fired ovens where they make fresh pita, and for lunch they make manaeesh. That's a pita pizza made with za'atar, which is a ground up mix of a bunch of herbs, and sesame seeds, and some goat coagulated milk.
Sarah147
Wow! It looks like I'm quite a food-virgin. I don't have foods like that nearby. They sound quite tasty. I can't handle really spicey stuff, though.
