I hadn't posted here because I kept reading it as asking for my favorite "Martian" title. I need new glasses.

Mary, Undoer/Untier of Knots (Yes, that's a real title, and I even have a medal and a Rosary center with that title.)

I like Our Lady of Peace, as well. I pray to her for inner peace.

I really like Our Lady of Perpetual Help because when things get tough for me, I pray to her and ask her to tell Jesus that 'I have no wine' - knowing that He will deny her nothing. :love:

I am particularly attached to two:

1. Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit: I've always been really intrigued by the Annunciation and have spent quite a bit of time meditating and reflecting on Mary's relationship with the Holy Spirit. I love to imagine her on the day of Pentecost, sitting among the disciples and being the only one who fully understood, intimately comprehended the mystery that was taking place. I'm also really drawn to the image of Mary as the pregnant Virgin. She is "full of grace" and the Lord has "filled the hungry with good things." I love the idea of her being literally full with grace, quick with salvation itself.

2. Star of the Sea: This is rather recent. I started reciting the Ave Maris Stella as preparation for the de Montfort consecration. Then I started singing it in Latin at night before bed. I'm not sure why I love this devotion, but it has become a part of my routine and when I feel lost or alone, I can feel her with me guiding to the Light of her son, Jesus Christ.

I like Star of the Sea too. There is an absolutely beautiful hymn with that title. I heard it for the first time the week before last. My favourite verse:

Deep night hath come down on this rough-spoken world,
and the banners of darkness are boldly unfurled;
and the tempest-tossed Church - all her eyes are on thee;
they look to thy shining, sweet Star of the Sea.

This is a beautiful and simple Marian hymn that refers to her as "Star of the Ocean" that we sing during a prayer meeting; the leader is from India and I think this is a fairly popular song there. Here are some of my friends singing :)

I just remembered. There is a statue in our campus chapel called Our Lady of Light. I never heard of it before and I really like it. I don't know why, I just do. I love Queen of Peace, Mother of the Eucharist, Gate of Heaven, Star of the Sea and Queen of the May too. And Our Lady of Lourdes, Fatima, Knock, Guadalupe, Carmel and Our Lady of the Smile (St. Therese!)

I simply call Her my Mother. I also like Our Lady of The Holy Trinity. And Our Lady of the Angels. :love:

Los Angeles is often called "The City of Angels." But, if you look up the REAL name of the city, it is (roughly translated) The City of our Lady of the Angels. It's funny (sad) that so much of the city is far from that today.

But, then I also remember that MY home city--San Francisco is named after St. Francis. Today San Francisco is far from a city that follows the precepts of St. Francis (well, except that real estate prices are so high they would put most people in dire poverty).

Perhaps that's why I live in a city (Chicago) named after stinky onions. Much easier to live up to!

Since so many people have mentioned Mary, Star of the Sea. I will use this forum to blantantly give a plug to the Summit Dominicans who have a new soap called "Star of the Sea." I like it (especially its gorgeous blue color), but my current favorite soap is "Mary's Mantle." That soap is a lighter blue, with a very clean, fresh scent, and when I use it to take a shower, and the fragrance fills the room, I feel like Mary is hugging me.

OT--The Summit Dominican blog mentions today that the 400-year old copy of the Shroud of Turin owned by the monastery is now on public display. There is a wonderful story behind this copy that makes it a very precious and sacred relic, but I will leave you to read the story at www.monialesop.org (before you go to the gift shoppe to order some soap).
