Guest purpleispoetic
I would love to go on a silent retreat for a month or so but my work and school schedule will not allow it. I would however love to go for a week to start with- maybe 2 to 3 days. Does any one know any nice places to go for a silent retreat? When I say nice- I mean somewhere serene and beautiful not somewhere with WI-FI and DVD players in every room. I would however, like there to be a bed to be able to stay on as well as some options for meals. Also preferably in Kentucky/Ohio or somewhere close to me as I live in Ohio. Thank you so much for your time. Piccoli Fiori JMJ
+JMJ There are usually retreat houses that specialize in retreats like this. I know there is one about 30 minutes from where I live that I went on a silent retreat weekend. It was wonderful There are several retreat houses in Ohio (just from a quick google search) but you would have to sift through the listings to find one that is Catholic. Give me a minute and I will see what I can find specifically. ETA: Also, several religious communities provide retreats. I would look and see if there are any nearby that would be willing to host you as well. Also, ETA: Here are a few retreat houses that looked like solid, faithful, and simple places in Ohio. I didn't get to Kentucky yet and these few here are just a few: Our Lady of the Pines Saints Peter & Paul Retreat Center Jesuit Retreat House Edited February 10, 2011 by FutureNunJMJ

OnlySunshine
You could try the Visitation Monastery of Mobile, Alabama, if you are OK with traveling a little farther than expected. I don't know if you are a guy or a girl since your profile doesn't list it, but the nuns give amesome retreats. I've been wanting to go myself for a long time. They have more directed ones, or personal quiet-time-with God options.
