I Dream Of Mary

Years and years ago a woman began to write a book she intended to title "I Dream of the Madonna" but when she sent out surveys to gather information on dreams of Mary she had more responses from women who had dreamed of a certain famous pop-star, to the extent that she retitled her book and shifted focus to "I Dream of Madonna"

But certainly there must be people who've had dreams of our Lady. I've dreamed of Mary. Have you?

Yes, I have. But, more, often, I have dreams of Jesus.

You know who had cool dreams? Saint Don Bosco!!!

He got the answers to his exams in school, and most of the time I'm stuck with fluffy bunnies and stinging wasps and flying popcorn.

Come to think of it... I don't think I've ever dreamed of Mary, Jesus, or any of the saints.

I've had plenty of dreams of my future religious family.

I did once. I was having a nightmare, and I was up in some strange attic (The lights always go out and you're always in the dark) and I started praying the Hail Mary. Mary appeared, glowing and lighting up the attic, she knelt down on her knees -- and prayed for me. And then I work up.

The only other dreams that I've ever had that had much of anything to do with religion were recurring dreams about hell. I was in hell.. Down in a claustrophobic tunnel deep under the ground that was caving in on me. But I wasn't alone. There were other people down there with me -- and they were all following and dependent on me to get out. I don't remember ever making it out... :cry2:

I've had a couple dreams where I had to face a demon down with my rosary, holy water, and Hail Marys. Creepy dreams, but I find it encouraging that my subconscious's first reaction is to break out the prayers and sacramentals.
All I did was keep making the Sign of the Cross with the crucifix on my rosary, while saying Hail Marys.

What happened in your dreams? Did you win?

I had a dream that "my demon" (You know how we say we're battling our demons) showed up at the front door of the house in the middle of the night. She had long hair and was in a bright red dress but I could tell nothing else about her. I do a lot of lucid dreaming (I know when I'm in a dream and I can control dreams to an extent). I've read that you should approach the demon or monster in your dream and ask them why they're coming after you. So I did. She came into my room but I faced her instead of running. I didn't get a good look at her face. I was overcome with nausea and disorientation and I woke up feeling bad. She basically took me out.. :cry2: That's not the way it's supposed to work, is it? :wall:

Dream didn't really end. I just woke up. I dunno what might have happened if I had kept on dreaming. The demon was taunting me, trying to convince me that it was hopeless. I'm not sure what my subconscious believed.

Yeah, I've had this happen, too. I've had dreams where I'm praying Hail Mary's, for whatever reason. And I'll wake up finishing the prayer.

I dreamed of hearing God's voice.

This is how it went. My twin brother and I, together with other folks, are on top of a building trying on that squirrel like apparel used to glide. My twin bro used it and flew then he landed on Manila bay. Knowing that he doesn't know how to swim, I ran down and looked for him but he was lost. I went to many places, and then I cried, "Lord, please save my brother."

Then I heard the words clearly, "Do not worry. This is just a dream."

Then I woke up surprised. :o

I do not claim to receive interior locutions :like: It's a dream.

About a week ago I dreamed I was in my Rv on some unknown campsite and I looked up a small sloping hill and seen Pope John Paul II setting on a lawn chair with an attendant priest holding an unmbrella over his head. He was dressed in white robes and a white round Pope hat and seemed to be glowing as if the sun was reflecting on him. I called to my wife to come out, she was busy cleaning, which is always what makes us late for things, I called again and said its Pope John Paul! and she rushed out the door and started saying, I have always wanted to meet him him, I was so disappointed we could not afford to go see him when he was in america I was hoping to get a blessing from him, my wife will rave non stop on any subject, another thing that always gets my goat, so I said shush, and looked over to him and asked if we could come over to meet him. He smiled the most beautiful and bright smile, me and my wife were young and so was he, she was having a hard time getting up the little hill so I pulled her up, none too gently, and when we got there he smiled again at me and raised his hand and blessed us both, my wife started thanking him and talking non stop which did not seem to bother me this time and he just smiled at us and I woke up feeling that everything was going to work out for us and we would be fine.

I've never dreamed of Mary or Jesus. But I have dreamed of doing things that I knew they wanted me to do and I have dreamed of fighting demons.

Wow! What great responses. Maybe there should be another thread titled "Do you fight the dark side in your sleep?

And Saint John Bosco has officially come up, now, about 5 times in two days. I know he just had a feast day, but still... :wanders off to read bio on Wikipedia:

Hmmm..... I seem to think I may have dreamed of Jesus and Mary, but I can't remember. From time to time, I'll have a dream of fighting a temptation, and all of a sudden, sort of asleep and slightly conscious, I'll remember Jesus or Mary and I'll pray to them for help in fighting it, and I'll remember my resolve to choose Jesus over sin.
