Dominus PAX,
If we are confessing your sins and partaking of the body and blood(examining our concience before partaking and refraining from eucharist if we need to confess) and praying often/daily in need and worship for self and others, If this quota is fullfilled i believe we have the authority to discern the word of god as do the protestant ministers and evangelise non believers and discuss our discernings with fellow bretheren/other christians, you may think how can i do such a thing? follow the sacremental perscriptions read the gospels 1,2,3-10 times and find out how powerful your ministry of the word can be with the grace of god through the universal sacrements.But also we must understand that the final definitive discerment of the word is left to the Pope and the magesterium, but still in that today we are all called to be saints(not necisarily great martyrs in great sufferings or the pains of torture) we are called to be saints of the universal sacrements,the holy word(especially the gospels) and prayer. You may think you are two small or not pretty enough or not strong enough,but these though nice are not the core,the core lives in your heart jesus says"get clean inside and you will also be clean on the outside" he also said "I stand at the doorway of your heart and knock" We let him in through worthy participation of the sacrements,the word of God and prayer. Please remember WORTHY participation of the sacrements and regular prayer for self and others is key,with these it is hard for us to discern the word with serious error,but in that the holy spirit reveals to us when we do discern it wrongly.

please don't get me worng,all have sinned and fall short of the glory of god,worthy participation of the sacrements does not mean you have to be the holy mother or saint peter,just humble reflection/examination of whom we are representing and to what state our lives are in before participating in the eucharist, and if there is serious error to refrain from partaking and confess and the soonest availble time,before consuming the most precious body and blood.If need be carry a note pad with you and arrive at the mass 15-20 minutes early,this is difficult to do if your mass is a flock of sea gulls but anyhow try your best ,maybe sit against the wall outside the church and take notes,than decide whether you need to confess,this examination of concience and note taking can be done anytime really, okay god bless you all. love yuz lets go get em

Of course prudence is required if wrestling with the meaning of the word to take your thoughts to a spiritual director,an elder of the church or a priest/nunn.
P.S. The biblical requirements of saint paul for an official elder is one whos children are also practising the faith.
