really, how many young people do we actually have on PM now? there is a reason the creepy alien board went the way of the dodo, unfortunately.

half the membership here is old enough to have had several kids by now.

...
that's cause most of the young people who were on this board ARE older now. and you say it like its a bad thing.

We have plenty of young'uns on here....and then we have the lurkers who we will probably never know who are young...

...
meh, i'm not too worried about "young'uns". they'll come after school's finished lol.

but I still don't see what the problem with this rule was. yeah anwyays.

Without having had access to those debates I would not be anywhere near where I am today.

Right. So we beaver dam well better enforce that rule so that more people don't end up in Canada.

like really young? i remember a couple preteen members a few years ago, but normally the only time young posters are mentioned it is when older posters are taking their opinions as illegitimate due to their age.

for the rest of your story, well, you already have a forum for that, don't you? y'all can get ugly and hash things out there....
hostile much? the "forum for that" has been PM for a long time(for me, two years before you joined i might add :) ).

so far things havent been ugly there. you would be surprised, but in depth theological and otherwise discussions havent really gotten mean.

but the hash.....

well, thats exactly it. the young people grew up, but not many new ones joined. its not really a bad thing. its just kinda the way things happened. there just arent as many younguns as there were when i joined.

and having kids isnt a bad thing :P

I think you werent really on the forum for the couple of months this whole thing was being hashed out. it sounds somewhat reasonable(though it wasnt worded the same way when first introduced) but in application, issues came up.

Trust me, this forum format has the edge that appeals to the younger rather than the older. There's new people coming in everyday (like me) and I think it's important to develop ways to be more welcoming, you know, making a more visible presentation and introduction for those showing up the first time around (I have a few suggestions but I better start a new thread or talk to an admin).

You're aware of the "demographic winter" phenomenon going on at least all over the West, right? Like, kindergartens being turned into nursing homes because... ("long-pro-life-ramble-of-things-people-do-instead-of-having-and-raising-children-well").

Teens don't really post a lot because they don't know much to start with and obviously their opinions are often laden with holes. They're the ones who can benefit the most from instruction. So 'sall good, man.

Besides, look at AudreyGrace (17 year-old), you don't need more proof. I don't think anyone seriously put her down because of her age and I personally haven't seen any of that yet (although I haven't seen too many topics yet), but I suspect that such a thing doesn't happen often at all.

Of course that since kids are indeed bored with lame arguments, you'll manage to get more of them away from PM if you keep talking like that. Just a hint.

That's all shades of evil right there!

We may be stuck with CAT-o-lick, but at least we still have DOG-matic. And that sure kicks arse. (although there's probably a lot better puns than this, I just can't think of any right now)

I joined when i was 17. I dont really consider that to be very young. that is basically graduated from highschool.

Just look at Rexi if you wanted to see my example i was referring to. he doesnt post here much any more, but he was a 16 year old guy. I disagreed with basically everything he believed in, though for his age he seemed pretty book smart. A lot of senior members here would insult him for being young before responding to his posts. It happened a LOT. at all.

If anything i was being more respectful to young members than this rule is. It seems kind of condescending to enforce a "toning down" of discussions so that young peoples "feeble minds" can comprehend things. Audrey seems to be doing just fine, I did good and i dont know many young members here who couldnt handle the level of discussion that happened in certain places.

The dig in the last sentence is really unnecessary.
