franciscanheart
BTW - before you start the jokes about what sissies we are in the south, try to empathize. We're looking at an inch of ice across surfaces, not snow. We're experiencing negative temperatures, which is, yes, different for a place that reaches up to 115 during the summer. We dropped over 60 degrees in 48 hours and have been suffering with closed roads, power issues, etc for two days now. Sigh.
Deus te Amat
Yeah.... My uninsulated, cinder block walled apartment is out or power... Actually, the whole campus is. I'm currently huddled under three blankets wearing wool socks. I found this amusing yesterday when cars were getting stuck on the ice outside and people were walking like penguins.... But I did not realize the extent of the problem... Because the temperatures aren't supposed to reach above freezing again until Friday. Please pray. People freeze without power in Minnesota, and I fear for the people here....

And my mom, who works at a hospital, said they're running on that now too. What can you do when you're stuck inside with no power in the single digit temperatures? Jesus_lol
on the other hand, it is so cold you will probably be seeing a bunch of babies in 9 months time.
Fortunately my roomie knows that even in Texas we needed to have some kind of protection for our exposed pipes (because we have exposed pipes), so we have heating chords wrapped around them. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. Prayers it gets fixed soon.

sixpence
its seem like we have power at Rutgers, but I am worried about the professor I teach for, I cannot seem to contact her about class today.. we have a ton of ice too, and I am pretty decent at driving in the snow, but last night I was sliding everywhere and I feel like there must be many less careful people out there!! Where are you all that have power out?
