Sarah147
Hello, Some people had shared that they named their Guardian Angel. I think even Mother Angelica did, too. Have you named yours? I've been meaning to. I'm trying to think of a good name. How is your relationship and devotion to your Guardian Angel? Sisters told me that Father Manelli, FI is able to see people's Guardian Angels. When they ask their Angel to visit him, they would appear to him in his cell, even waking him in the night. They said that he said the Angels look just like the person they guard, only better and perfect. I wonder if it's true... If I recall correctly, Saint Gemma used to see her Guardian Angel. God bless you! Moosey
My mother found out the names of our guardian angels' by praying before bed about each one. Mine's Jude I was better about interacting with Jude when I was little. I try to ask for his intercession as much as possible, but I used to just talk to him when I was younger. I didn't necessarily need something from him.
Sarah147
Now that's an idea, to pray for the name. I don't usually get things like that in prayer, though. Sounds unusual.
Nihil Obstat
I've been told by a trusted source that the name of my guardian angel is Nikodemos.

AudreyGrace
my angel's name is Joy. I received it by praying a Hail Mary every night for nine nights, asking her to give me a name for my guardian angel. On day 9, the name "Joy" stuck out and I met like 5 random ppl that day named Joy...
dominicansoul
isn't there some controversy over naming one's guardian angel? I have never paid too much attention on the arguments, but I had heard that some think it's a bad thing to do...I never understood why, or what were their reasons or concerns... TeresaBenedicta
Never named mine. And haven't really ever felt the need to do so. I heard a beautiful theological reflection on angels that has recently changed how often I ask for the intercession my guardian angel and those of others. See, since angels are pure spirit, they can make knowledge known to another by merely "willing" it. So, whenever I'm teaching or I want to get a specific point of knowledge across, I invoke my own guardian angel and those of my students, asking that they help me do the teaching. Tally Marx
I prayed about the name of my Guardian Angel when I was a little kid, and since then I have always called him that, but I never shared it with anyone--reason: unknown--and don't feel the need to change that now. I ask my Angel to pray for me, and with me when I am praying alone, and to watch over my friends, sometimes, when they are dying, traveling, etc. Sometimes, when I want to go to Adoration and cannot make it, I kneel wherever I am at and ask my Angel to "go to Adoration for me". I've done that since I was very little; I used to picture him going to my parish church for me... or I'd ask him to go to a certain church in particular. Now, I know he sees the Beatific Vision all the time, so I can picture him at Jesus' Feet. But, other than this, I suppose I regard my Angel like I would any one of the saints. I don't ascribe all evils to devils and all successes to Angels, so I suppose it's a healthy enough relationship.... Padre Pio could see his Guardian Angel, and other people's angels, as well. My mom, instead of asking her Angel for things, asks Padre Pio's instead. "Oh, St. Benedict and St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Joseph and Padre Pio's Guardian Angel, please help us get to the hospital in time!" I find it amusing, but that's just what she does. Sarah147
Grrrrrrrreat post! I've never thought of those things!! Interestingly, Father Manelli was the altar boy of St. Padre Pio. It looks like things passed on to him. [/quote] I'm terribly clumsy, yet I've never broken a bone. I thank God for it, and my guardian angel for looking out for me as God wants it to. If I have a family member away from home or if I miss a friend away at school, I ask my angel to give their angel a spiritual hug for me. It's extremely sappy, and probably theologically incorrect on so many levels, but I grew up with a lot of separation in my life, and this is what helped me through some of it. tinytherese
I still don't understand what the harm is in naming your guardian angel. I'd rather use someone's name when talking to them. I didn't pray to know mine's name. I just decided to name mine after the Holy Father. Benedict is also a saint's name. But I'll submit to the authority of the Church. I ask my guardian angel to guide me every day, lead me closer to Our Lord, to help me to become a saint. I also ask that I be aware of my angel's presence and act accordingly. I thank my angel for all that they do for me and tell them that I love them.
