Sarah147
Hello, There was an incredible episode of Doctor Oz Show today. They had a healer on, and I was thrilled when they shared that he is Catholic and a doctor. (Get a load of the crusifixes, Church and Priest in the video!) He has even had success healing people by photograph or that he was told about. He said he does it for free. He does offer electronic accupuncture, and can also pray over you for healing, and the treatment is not covered by insurance, so it costs $250, BUT he said he won't charge those that can't afford it. But of course, he can pray over you for free; the medical treatment is the thing he usually charges. I so want to be able to enter a convent in the future. God bless you. Edited February 2, 2011 by JoyfulLife

Sarah147
He keeps his medical treatments separate from the healing prayer. Here is his healing website, where you can send a prayer request: http://pathtofaith.com/contact.php On the show, their medical doctors reviewed the medical files of healed people, and it's legit. I liked it better when guys like this were putting their hands on peoples foreheads and pushing them. At least they didn't associate themselves with being Catholic.
While he was praying, he did speak of "Jesus" and "Holy Spirit" if I recall correctly. He said the power isn't his, but God's. He may have said Jesus somewhere, too. Nope, you don't have to be a Priest to have the gift.
Semper Catholic
The point. You have missed it. Entirely. I'm sure Dr. Snakeoil's practice is booming because of he is an excellent physician, not because he goes on Dr. OZ and Maury pimping his "gift"

Sarah147
Interestingly, Dr. Oz even asked him if the Church has any problem with him, and he said there haven't been any problems. You ought not to be so quick to judge. I believe the guy is legit. He isn't "un-catholic" for using his gift. So he went on a show? At least the miracle stories will help people believe in Jesus. I think it's wonderful. He keeps the prayer free and separate from his accupuncture. I'd bet more go for the prayer than his services.

Sounds like he's doing his job Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam- for the greater glory of God. He's just bringing his vocation into his occupation, which is what we're all supposed to do anyways. Lilllabettt
If he's lying, he's rotten If he's telling the truth, it was a bad idea for him to do Dr. Oz. Publicizing that you have such a gift is a bad bad idea on many levels I am sure all the publicity will bring him a lot more patients, paying and otherwise. I hope for his sake that he is a saint, because with fame and publicity it will require heroic virtue to keep faith-healing/money-making separate.
