Lisa
ok, I know this is going to make all the post-college/in the real world people sad, but I AM SO EXCITED!!!! Purdue called off classes due to the ice/snowstorm! Best. Day. Ever. Anybody else have the day off?

MithLuin
Haha, I had a delay today, but three snow days last week, so I can sympathize . [I'm a high school teacher, so snow days are much less rare!] I recommend getting trays from the cafeteria for some impromptu sledding . That, and obtaining alcohol. That's what I remember of snow days in college...not that I ever had any. I think we had one hurricane day though, which was much the same. And classes were cancelled for 9/11, but that was...less fun.
CatherineM
They never have snow days here. There could be many feet of snow, but the dozers run all night, and everyone pretends that it isn't a big deal.
homeschoolmom
When you live at school, it's hard to call it off because of bad weather.... (we only call off school for good weather....)

And this is Purdue's 2nd or 3rd snow day in 30+ years, so I'm extra pumped one of them happened while I was here!
Piccoli Fiori JMJ
+JMJ I think we had one or two snow days while I was in college. We also closed the campus during freshman orientation because a very nice storm came through and our power was out for a day or two... that was not a fun time to be an RA (had to make rounds every hour all through the night...) HopefulBride
Never had a snow day. Even when I lived in Idaho. I've been rooting for cold weather days and they look at me like I'm crazy. I mean I live in Florida and anything below 50 should be grounds for the entire state shutting down.

Deus te Amat
I go to school in Texas, and we had a snow day today. More like a "two millimeters of ice" day.

cmotherofpirl
Back in the day when I was in college it was so cold for so long, we didn't have snowdays we had snow weeks We had fuel shortages because the Great Lakes and the rivers froze, we couldn't get fuel, so they couldn't heat the dorms. All the colleges ( and everything else) closed and sent all the kids home. It was so cold at home we slept in sleeping bags in front of the radiators for over a week. It was longest continous below freezing stretch in our history.
