rhetoricfemme
We're in the middle of closing on a house, and we were just informed that we'll be needing flood insurance. No one realized this, and the last owners never even had to pay it, so the zoning maps must have been redone quite recently. This unexpected expense could end up costing us quite a bit of money that we weren't prepared to spend. Apparently we're in a high risk flood zone, which could cost us $2,300 that must be paid before we close on our house, which is set to happen within the next few weeks. If we don't have to pay that, we still have to spend at least a few hundred dollars to get an elevation certificate and to situation a LOMA letter declaring our area is not the risk that FEMA's map now says it is. Please pray for us, that this will somehow work out. We're hoping to work this expense into our contract, but are unsure how things will pan out for now.
