cmotherofpirl
Beautiful story, Iggy. God has blessed you with a deep love of His little, needy creatures, and you'll be blessed for taking such good care of them. After I read what you wrote, my cat came over to the side of the chair where I'm sitting and meowed and rubbed against my hand. So she says all cats think you're pretty amesome Can you get him neutered? If he's feral, there are organizations that help with trapping them and doing low-cost or free surgeries....
I can't get near the big tomcats, tey look like bobcats in the tree but I have tamed the female and and working on the young grey tom. The problem wit the neutering is that I don't crive and the clinic is not close. Not many people are willing to transport a spraying yowling 15 pound tomcat. Mark of the Cross
Really? I didn't know that! Our black cat is from a shelter. We have no idea what happened to her before we got her - i've never seen such a skittish scaredy cat, and I've been around cats all my life. We actually adopted her because we knew they'd put her down - they brought her out with another cat for us to "visit" and see if we liked them, then when the lady was putting her back in the little cage, she had scruffed her neck to pick her up, which made this cat very scared so she cried and hissed - they said that would be put down as an "incident," which we knew meant they'd put her down. Anyway, our black cat likes to hide - a lot - and she gets scared easily. Sometimes, just someone getting up from the couch suddenly is enough to scare her. If you approach her in her hiding place, she will hiss and/or growl in defense. It took her months just to come out and stay with us for a few hours, but of course, she's usually under a coffee table or behind a couch. I really like our odd black cat, though.
My first white cat was like that. When we first got her she ran around the room with diarrhoea from nervousness. If a stranger surprised her she would run up the wall to get away. She put me in mind of me in so many ways except she was abnormally intelligent for a cat with human like characteristics.
This cat looks like our feral cat, Dinah... Almost exactly. She is friendly, but is still skittish and does not like being picked up. Any cat is made of adorable. Although my friends in college made allegations that I was indeed a crazy cat lady, but nothing has been proven to be true. Other than I live with 6 cats. Although, only one of them is really "my" cat.

But if there's only one female around, and if she's nicer and you can get her spayed, that will solve the kitty population boom, too Yeah, I forgot about the spraying issue. One time I had a good number of unneutered male cats in my car, and it was not a pleasant odor.... ParadiseFound
Black cats in the dark can give you a shock. One evening I was placing some rubbish bags outside my house when I saw a black cat run out from where I was about to dump them. Nearly gave me a heart attack

Ed Normile
I agree, Black cats are not evil, its all cats are evil. Name another animal that tortures and kills prey that its not going to eat for entertainment or just something to do, now do not say man, those who do that are definetly evil, as evil as a cat. ed

Humans have 'free choice' therefore whatever they do that is wrong is much more evil than a cat, which is just acting on it's instincts. Cats are not evil. Neither are humans, however humans do evil things.

So the excitement of the chase is something that your cat wants to prolong and enjoy. After all if it wanted to it could just use it's specialised bite to instantly kill the prey, but where's the fun in that. After all the cat is not attacking the prey for food, so the instinct for the chase is the stronger of its emotions.[*]Secondly, you may be watching a female cat trying to catch an animal and keep it alive to present to her young family for training purposes as mentioned above.[*]Lastly it may be that the cat is nervous of its prey and does not wish to get hurt. This is especially true with rats, as they can give a very nasty bite. In these cases the cat is probably trying to subdue the rat until it is able to give the killing bite, which has to be administered to the nape of the neck to be sure of killing the prey outright.
