I was just thinking about putting them in touch with our Anglican friends in the great white north! They would get along famously!

They would! You're right! I'll probably see them when I go! Unfortunately because of your weird phobia you won't be able to go with me!

hs mom,
PedroX was referring to some mutual friends we have who live in Minneapolis as well ... let me see if I can snag some contact information for you; I think you'd like them quite a bit.

Here is a conversation Dave and I had about Geese...

Dave25704398: I've noticed more of your posts having to do with geese.
Dave25704398: Why do you like them so much?
MagnusTres: Actually, I struggle with a fear of them. I do not apperciate them as much as they should, as they are God's creation.
MagnusTres: And I like to have running gags
MagnusTres: thus I wirte about them
Dave25704398: lol
Dave25704398: I guess you shouldn't watch Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds," then. ;-)
MagnusTres: Birds are great, I think that it would be cool to be a falconer one day.
MagnusTres: just geese
Dave25704398: lol
MagnusTres: A flock tries to eat me when I was little
Dave25704398: Huh???
MagnusTres: *tries in my nightmare
Dave25704398: oh, it was a nightmare
MagnusTres: Actually tried when I was four
MagnusTres: I was jut trying to feed ducks
Dave25704398: Did you get too close, and they started coming after you, honking and stuff?
MagnusTres: they bit my mom on the behind and then I yelled at them and they tried to take my bread, which I was trying to feed to the nice ducks...
Dave25704398: LOL
MagnusTres: ...but I would not give up the bread, and thus the mobbed me
MagnusTres: Bitting my toes and fingers, I screamed in utter horror
Dave25704398: awwww
MagnusTres: My Dad rescued me
MagnusTres: He sent them flyin when I was cryin
Dave25704398: You're a poet and didn't know it! :-P
MagnusTres: SOrt a

I'll be your kids God Father!

I'm half Corleone, you know?!!?

lol, naw, really you should sit in the Church on a Tuesday and wait and see who comes in and is the most pious, most reverent, most prayerful soul you encounter and as them. A Godparent's biggest role is to pray hard for your kids and to keep in touch with them remindng them that the faith is important and will be their happines.

And seriously, if you don't feeel comfortable as you look for god parents, Phatmassers will do in a pinch. You could have them be Godparents by proxy!

(oh, and where in MN are you? I have friends in MN).

We're in the Twin Cities...

You as I type that, I'm thinking... Do people from the rest of the country (and Canada... and elsewhere) call the TCs the "Twin Cities" or is that another "Minnesota thing"?

I found this site that offers a directory of catholic homeschool support groups. If you do find one that is close to you, maybe it'll be a great place to make friends and future godparents.

But i would definately support the idea about the phatmass phmity. I'm sure there are some here who would make good godparents.....I wonder if the board would qualify on its own? :)

Imagine, if you will... My family surrounding the baptismal font... everyone smiling... the priest is there etc... Oddly, there is a computer screen sitting on the floor... there's a looooooong extension cord running from it... My baby son is sitting on top of it, my older son stands next to it. The priest turns to me and says, "what the--?" I hang my head and explain... "Father... it's our phamily. They're the only Catholics that we know... and they have agreed to be our children's Godparents..." Father does one of these... then a  ...

I just don't know....

homeschoolmom,
I totally sympathize. When my folks and I joined the Church 5 years ago, we knew no Catholics except for a very dear (somewhat eccentric  ) Irish priest, who brought us into the Catholic Church. Since then, I've been "adopted" by numerous older couples from the parish who are somewhat startled to see me at Adoration, and make time to have a nice talk afterwards. Maybe you could just sit in the Church some afternoon and see who comes in. If someone is in church just to spend a few minutes visiting Jesus, they might very well make very good godparents for you kids ^_^
