MithLuin
Hahahaha, you're making me blush! Wow, what a story. I'm living in Canada now studying German, English Literature, and French
Sorry to put you on the spot like that! My coworker majored in Portuguese and studied French, so I really don't know how he ended up as a Spanish teacher. I just concluded that they're all really similar and left it at that . But I do love his accent.... And I know he's not Irish, but....it would be remiss not to give a shout out to St. Patrick: And...The Lord's Prayer in Gaelic: Edited January 28, 2011 by MithLuin

MithLuin
You're on! I'm at least 3/4 Irish (but less than 7/8), but the music is certainly worth sharing here The Star of the County Down: Do You Love an Apple? MithLuin
Half my selections are from movies. Blood of Cuchulain is from 'Boondock Saints' and John Ryan's polka is from 'Titanic'. This next one is the theme to 'The Secret of Roan Inish' And then, of course, there's the dancing to go with the music:

Tally Marx
A little bit of Irish blood runs in my family.... My bro was born on Saint Patrick's day. We met an Irish nun in the store when he was little and she was astounded, miffed, disappointed that we hadn't named him Patrick!

MithLuin
Can't go wrong with the Dubliners How did we get this far into the thread without 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley'? I shall have ta remedy that.... "The Wind That Shakes the Barley" is an Irish ballad written by Robert Dwyer Joyce (1836-1883), a Limerick-born poet and professor of English literature. The song is written from the perspective of a doomed young Wexford rebel who is about to sacrifice his relationship with his loved one and plunge into the cauldron of violence associated with the 1798 rebellion in Ireland. The references to barley in the song derive from the fact that the rebels often carried barley oats in their pockets as provisions for when on the march. This gave rise to the post-rebellion phenomenon of barley growing and marking the "croppy-holes," mass unmarked graves which slain rebels were thrown into, symbolising the regenerative nature of Irish resistance to British rule. And, again, there's a movie by this title.....
