You know... I really spend a lot of time proofing that newsletter just for that reason... "What kind of homeschooler are you that you can't spell?" Actually, I'm a pretty bad speller (thank goodness for spell check)... I really must get more sleep... Baby John was up a lot last night... It's only 8 am and I could sleep for another eight hours. I don't know how HS_Dad survives on no sleep...

Anyway, I will be interested to see if anyone in co-op says anything to me regarding this today. We have some strong anti-Catholics in there... (former Catholics).

Why do former Catholics feel so strongly against the Church? I don't feel as passionately against our Protestant church... (is this the beginning of another thread?)
Well, I still have my really good close friends... they just don't get it. I'm sure some of our friendships will still survive and grow. If not, I'll just move to Indiana or somewhere east of the Mississippi and start over again...
We in Indiana would be proud to have you HSM!

Homeschool...

I know there is no replacement for good friends...but I think it would be a good idea to pray for new good friends, for good fellowship with orthodox Catholics, if you aren't praying for this already. ;)

Homeschooling is EVERYWHERE in Indiana. My mom does it. She says that IN has some of the easiest rules in the country. It's very accepted around here.

Ah, but how can HS_Dad and I be salt and light to our Protestant friends? They would think we've joined some weird Catholic cult and moved to Indiana... they would never know that Catholics are normal people, not waffer worshiping, goddess-loving freaks. Nope better stay here and drag all of our friends to mass.

I know what you mean.

Luckily, It was a little easier for me. When I converted back to Christianity from Atheism, I lost about all my friends I had.

Then I joined a Fundementalist Church, and when i realized the Catholic truth, I lost friends again! But I not worried though, I never knew what Jesus meant when He said that they'l hate you for his sake(Since as a protastant, I felt some rejection, but never hatred!)

I realized what he meant when I told people I'm going to become Catholic. Now there was that hate he was talking about!

Ahh, well. I've gor excellent Catholic friends now and I've never experienced God closer than now, and if I could make the choice again, I'd do it again!

Hope I didnt sound to boring

bleh... had to go dig this thread up-- didn't see a need to start a new one...

Okay, so... My homeschool friends (Protestants) started a mother/daughter club for our daughters... it started last week. One mom mentioned that she was going to bring me something at church... then she said, "you go to ___, right?" I said no. She said, "you used to, right?" (we sat by them for over a year)... "Yes," I said, "but we don't anymore." Well now all eyes are on me (fortunately, all the girls are off doing something else.) "Oh, where are you going now?" "Oh, where's that?" Finally, the subject was changed. I don't mind talking about it-- just not in front of my daughter.

Fine and dandy-- so now they know...

Well, yesterday, I got an email from one of the moms-- a very nice lady, but a former Catholic. She asked if there was something that they should know about our old church (they were having some problems) and wondered about the church we go do now....

So, I told her it wasn't about the old church, that HSDad and I had done a lot of reading aobut Catholicism and decided to be received at the Easter Vigil. I assured her that we were still Christians, still loved the scripture etc. but that we wanted to benefit from the sacraments and the mass, too. (It was a longer explanation than that... I just really don't like to discuss this in email).... She replied that she didn't realize that our new church was Catholic, wondered where it is (it's a huge parish across from the high school...) and told us about her Catholic relatives etc. She was very nice, though.

So, then I thought this was as good a time as any to tell the board of our homeschooling co-op. I cut and pasted my reply to the first woman and sent it to the administator. She is also a former Catholic. She replied that she hadn't heard any rumors about me (that's how I started the letter)... and thought that was great... blah, blah, blah... (both of them said something to the effect of believing that the Holy Spirit can call us from one church to another or something)...

But then this morning, the co-op administrator emailed me and said that she had read 2 Timothy this morning and wondered if I had time to read it and comment on it. She is not challenging me in a negative way-- I honestly believe she is only trying to maintain a friendly dialog...

I feel like saying, "yep, inerrent holy Scripture, that's what I think... " Maybe I should point out specific verses: 2 Tim 1:13-14 'What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you-- guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.' or 2 Tim 2:2 "and the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." etc... I am just not sure what she wants me to comment on... Anyway... that's whats going on...

bleh...

Mathew 10:34-36
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

I myself am not a convert, but a cradle-Catholic, but I was reading through this thread and remembered that passage that I heard yesterday. I think it applies. You guys got a hard path to travel, and it can get hard from people not accepting it. Just know Jesus is the most importan, and who would you like to please the most.

God Bless,

Michael
