Tony
On what basis is it moral for seniors, but not for younger people?
It's not that it's more or less moral , its if it should be legalized for anyone, it should be for them. Maybe Im being a little biased to old foggies, but It just seems a little silly to throw them in the slammer for smokin a joint. They've been there, done that, seen this, seen that, and if they just want to be left alone for a while to light up, they shouldn't be harassed for that. Santa Cruz
I've heard it can cause hallucinations, unreality, delusions, psychosis, craziness, etc. A totally different ballgame from having a glass of martini, margarita, wine, etc.
Yup. I agree and I know a couple of people who are older and have been smoking for years and it surely has long term effects causing and the folks I know acknowledge it. It also makes people extremely lazy and unmotivated. To use it as means to improve one's meditation is inducing an experience of God, which is false. On the other hand, hemp cloth, paper, rope, lotion etc. is great. Are the folks from Mexico bringing in marijuana? I thought that was grown in Northern California forests? Are not the drug cartel dealing with more narcotic type drugs, chemically derived? Like methamphetamine? But, if we give marijuana to Al Qaeda and the Taliban then perhaps they would become more mellow and peaceful. Or, on the other hand, it could increase their delusion and paranoia and cause utter mayhem mixed with stupidity. Very dangerous! + =
IcePrincessKRS
I probably shouldn't laugh, but it's totally cracking me up that you spelled "definitely" wrong twice but get "marijuana" right every time.

dairygirl4u2c
Alcohol is a drug. Recreational drug abuse is and always will be wrong. Deliberately using any drug (without serious reason, such as morphine for an injured person) in a way that greatly diminishes or destroys the use of reason is and always will be gravely immoral. ~Sternhauser
2291 The use of drugs inflicts very grave damage on human health and life. Their use, except on strictly therapeutic grounds, is a grave offense. Clandestine production of and trafficking in drugs are scandalous practices. They constitute direct co-operation in evil, since they encourage people to practices gravely contrary to the moral law. that doesn't look like 'abuse' is wrong, given only theraputic grounds is the only way to not be grave. granted, even if i were a catholic, i would argue 'pot doesn't count as a 'drug''. but, this seems more to be the argument, not arguing with a distinguishment about 'abuse' v. other use. and we know historically, even in the bible and with jesus, that alochol is okay to use recreationally.
