If I have a friend who isn't christian and isn't ready to accept the fullness of truth can I baptise them ? Or should I send them to a non denominational church that doesn't teach the rapture and have them baptised there ? Is there church doctrine that prohibits me from baptising someone ? Alright Godbless.

Ok I said this wrong. They are christian in the sence they believe in God and Christ and that He's rissen. They were just baptised mormon. Although they don't identify themselves as mormon anymore. Sorry for the confusion.

Does this person desire to become Christian?

I believe you can only do it in emergency situations. Otherwise it will be considered valid, but illicit.
Baptism is necessary for salvation. This can be expanded to include baptism by desire and baptism by blood, and baptism by desire can in the opinion of some, be further extended to implicit desire.

Ok this confuses me ? What is an emergency situation ? I mean life isn't promiced. You could die ten minutes from now.

That's the tough part. They consider themselves christian. They don't consider the mormon baptism unvalid. The mormon church is very deseptive. And the person also doesn't believe in having to go to a church tohave salvation. They were hurt by the mormon church and religion. That's why they are not ready to accept the catholic church and its religion.

i think an emergency would have to include some imminent danger....

just living isn't imminent danger...

Wow that's sorta messed up. So I should just sorta snub her then ? Like if she isn't ready for the complete truth don't take any truth? Don't get baptised unless you're gonna become catholic and take it all ? I like that attitude actually cause I'm selfish and then I won't have to bother myself with her and go through the trouble. But that seems messed up.

Respect to you too dude. You're the best. I think I'll just send her to one of those churches in a old grocery store. As long as they don't teach the rapture and hate catholics. But they can baptise her. Seems as if I might be asking for trouble if I do it myself.

Thanks Nihil I was hoping someone would bring up Baptism of desire Etc. My understanding is that DB need not be overly concerned about baptising his friend rather concentrate on bringing him to RCIA. and the instruction of truth. If his friend should die and he was destined for baptism then he would be considered to have 'Baptism of desire' or one of those other things you mentioned. If he wasn't then baptism may not help, possibly. My confidence is down at the moment, you can tell can't you?

You should explain to them first. He or she does not want to be a part of the Church and does not want to know the Truth right now. You can't force them. They tried it in the past and it doesn't work. Also it's wrong.

Outside the Church there is no salvation.

So if you die and you were " destined " for baptism you're good ? Ok cool. She's pry good. Its not her fault the mormon church is all messed up. She was told it was christian growing up and she thinks of herself baptised. God should understand. I won't worry myself with it.
